this land has been untouched by humans for centuries. nobody knows of its existence, leaving the land mass to stay under the rule of the horses and mother nature. however, with prey animals also comes predators, who many are unfortunate enough to have to share a land with. it is unknown as to how the herds came to this place, though many elders will tell you different stories of the land's origins. four lands with drastically different climates and geography are the home to four different herds, each ruled by one reigning mare or stallion, known as the king or the queen of that land.

information about the territories and how they work.

> queens can claim mares and invite stallions just as a king can.
> queens can be challenged for their mares just as a king can.
> however, queens will also be weaker than any king or any stallion. i am not trying to be unfair, but this is how it is in real life- mares are often weaker than stallions.
> in order to challenge for mares a stallion, or mare, must approach the king or queen themselves and propose who they are fighting for.
> foals must go with their mothers if their mother is claimed or won.
> bachelor stallions may have a total of two mares in a separate herd, but they have no power over the kings or queens and can still be claimed.
> kings and queens may take mares from other herds as prisoners if they venture into the wrong territory and are caught.
> claimed horses may try to escape their herd but will often be hunted down by their king or queen and punished.
> the king of a land's mate will be the lead mare.
> other herds can claim war on another land and invade their territory in attempt to steal their herd.

the northern timber.

members-

land description; heavy dense forests with an extreme lack of sunlight and open ground. the trees stretch high into the air and protect the herd from rain, but also keep them away from an abundance of sunlight and heat. it is not hard to find a mountain stream winding through the roots and rocks.

herd traits; the horses here are often slim and sleek, though not underfed thanks to the amount of leafy greens, and can easily wind their way at any speed around the trees. the horses who reside here are often highly independent and a bit shut off from the rest of the land, though not directly antisocial they can be considered off-putting and fearful of deep emotions.

predators; their predators include lynx, wolves, and bears.

notable features; the elder oak. a towering, old oak tree that has started to bend towards earth over it's many years here, age and growth having twisted and gnarled it's branches around one another. the heavy branches now create a twisted intertwining roof of sorts. this is where Wynd holds meetings and can be found most commonly.

the eastern scorch.

members-

land description; dry, barren land with little escape from the burning heat and rugged terrain. rocky ground, brittle brush and thin, sparse trees dot the land and break up the hard-packed sand.

herd traits; the horses who live here under crimson prince's rule are unfazed by the heat and know just where the watering holes are. they have an advantage of their open ground to easily spot predators and intruding horses. most have very rough, quick-tempered personalities that can be hard to warm up to, and many are covered in scars new and old.

predators; their predators include scorpions, mountain lions, coyotes, and bobcats.

notable features; the red rock. a red dust covered slab of granite that covers the expanse of one of the higher hills of burning sand and brush. it rests beneath the dull shade of a dry and brittle tree. this is where crimson prince can usually be found and where he holds meetings.

the western highlands.

members-

land description; the largest land of them all. however- a good portion of this land is not accessible because of the lack of oxygen the higher the land goes. high winds pummel these rocky, uneven grounds virtually every day, and the temperatures dip down into the colder side. the grass and streams are abundant, but with that also comes dangerous drops from cliffs rising from the mountainsides.

herd traits; the horses here are incredibly careful and graceful of their hooves, and have fairly forgiving yet wise and confident personalities. they are often heavyset and short- resembling Highland ponies and Icelandic horses.

predators; they have no real predators in these lands, and so are often the largest herd.

notable features; the isle fissure. a deep, rocky split in the earth that separates part of the territory in two, just where the cliffs and hills turn into sloping flat land. this where ____ gathers the herd for meetings, but it is where many equines have also made mistakes and fallen in.

the southern frost.

members-

land description; an incredibly deadly territory, the polar opposite of the eastern scorch, the southern frost is covered in a sheet of snow. the trees are the main source of food, as well as brush and fallen twigs that survived the heavy snow. many foals do not make it far here when they are born, and other horses have to be careful not to fall in to a hidden river.

herd traits; the horses that live here are a bit of a mystery, as many do not bother to venture into their frozen home, but they are heavy boned and with thick fur, always resembling some form of a draft horse or a hardy pony.

predators; their only predators are wolves.

notable features; the frozen falls. in the coldest part of the territory, where the icy grip dips into dangerously cold temperatures, lies a towering waterfall that has been frozen since some of the first rulers of this snowy land came. the river it would tumble into has stayed hidden under thick layers of ice for decades as well. this is where luna rules over their chilling territory.

the middle meadows.

ruled by no one. this land is a neutral ground for those without a herd and those with a loyalty to a king or queen. mares are allowed to be claimed here. stallions come here to settle their differences.

crimson prince; king of the eastern scorch

the stallion had not been weathered by his years on the land. at the age of ten, he was not quite out of his late youth, but the position of king certainly did add years and knowledge onto one's mind. crimson prince had seen it all, the very loud scars that covered his flanks were every bit of evidence from that. the time had come for him to start his own herd, however. one could not stay practicing to rule forever, and since his father's passing crimson had wasted enough time refusing to gather a herd together. which is why the stallion, with his red sorrel coat, has left his scorching homeland to enter the middle meadows instead- the air leaving a quite foreign coolness to his coat.

The mare was currently grazing, bending down and picking up the soft green blades in her mouth, Wolfcry lay fast asleep in the sun a good 50 meters away as she ate, she kept her ears pricked and listened out for any threats or other mares, maybe even a stallion, they were currently in the middle field and the siblings didn't leave the field.

Luna looked round what most would call a desolate landscape, but to her the territory she roamed was nothing of the sort. She always marvelled at the way the hard ground that was littered with years of snow and ice glittered under every ray of the frozen sun, it gave no hope of fresh grass however she was very much a custom to the diet of twigs and small bushes that she had been living on in the years that had followed her election as queen. Her line stay had a very much left her closed of to the world outside of her icy home, and in her mind it seemed to have reached the point where she would need a herd. "To middle meadow it is." She sighed bitterly to herself at the thought of leaving her home, even if it was only for a few days.

crimson prince; king of the eastern scorch

he would never be familiar with the sight of the green grass. or the trees that stretched high and gave the shelter of shade. for his land was so much different- dusty, harsh, the horses from the other lands would not live two days in the scorch, he is sure of that. the meadow was not horribly full of new arrivals to the land, those who were born here or somehow had their own stories for coming to the rightful territory that belonged to any and all equines. barren, though not empty. a mare. of striking golden color, seemingly alone, is she? the better for him, an unclaimed mare would be easier to snag. with a loud, floating trumpet of his arrival escaping from his maw, crimson prince is more than satisfied to move his way towards the mare.

Luna's ears flitted around inquisitively upon her arrival to middle meadow, looking across the landscape, which was far green than anything she was used to on her home land, she noticed it to be barren all bar a snoozing stallion, and a singular golden mare, hmm, maybe a bit fine built, but she'll toughen' up after her first winter, her thoughts were snapped away from her upon hearing a shrill alarm cut through the air, turning her head gracefully she watched a fiery red stallion shoot in the direction, oh great she thought bitterly competition. She sighed tossing her head, before picking up a swift trot towards the pair of horses about ambushed by the flaming red stallion.

Storm/Mare/4/Lone/Tag; Open
The blue roan mare grazed on the sweet grass in front of her. She moved slowly, eating generously on the grass. She and her brother Thunder had just been kicked out of there original herd for there age. They had been wandering together until he found a mare or she a stallion. She took her front hoof and scrapped at the dusty dirt in front of her, looking for roots below.

Thunder/Stallion/4/Lone/Tags; Open

The black stallion watched his sister scratch the ground. His large head looked back and forth looking for horses or dangerous threats. Thunder's ears flicked back as the scent of a stallion hit his nose. He moved forwards slowly and then stopped. He would not fight for mares yet. He was too young to beat this stallion.

Basileus/Stallion/11/Lone/ Tags; Luna

The large black stallion moved across the grass at a quick gallop. He stopped upon the scent of the mare and moved forward. The tossed his head and whinnied out to the mare. The Frisian tossed his head upon seeing another crimson colored stallion and a golden mare. He snorted angrily and pawed the ground, the feathers on his feet flying in the air.

Eclipse/Mare/7/Lome/Tags; Open
(Grazing)

Nocturne and Adagio/Mare Filly/7,1m/loner/Tags;Open

The bay mare moved towards the stream ahead. She checked to make sure her chestnut paint filly was following. The filly jumped ahead of her mother and splashed around in the water. The bay mare laughed inwardly to herself at her foals playfulness.
