Days like these where when she rarely found time for an actual good night's sleep. Pleasant days with warm winds and clear blue skies...they reminded her of him. Maximus. Her dead son.
Helen sat underneath the dark, finger-like branches of a dying tree, a couple of miles away from her pack's territory. She watched the sky for noting in particular, she was just thinking and reminiscing. Reminiscing; that was something else she hadn't gotten a chance to do until these last few days. She missed her son so much. So Helen just stayed up day and night mourning over the lost of her only child.
Tempest idly chewed on the flesh of a small bird she had recently caught. The young huntress sat right on the border of her pack's marked off territory and lazily watched the few wolves who were out this far with her. After a while she stopped trying to eat something she no longer had the appetite for and picked the entire bird up -or what was left of it- and headed back to the center of the pack grounds.
The wolf wandered through the pack grounds with his tail slightly tucked between his legs, body compacted and close to the ground as he prepared himself for any high-up wolf to pass by. He'd be ready to show that he was submissive to them by immediately dropping and rolling over to expose his cream and brown underside; Ludwig's legs were catching cramps now but, hey, that was better than being violently knocked over and bitten. He could live through cramps. He wasn't sure if he could live through another assault.
He casually padded through the woods and dropped down to crawl under a few branches that were hanging too low for him just duck under. When he reached the other side of the branches, Cedar stood up and shook off any derbies that managed to cling on to his fur. Giving himself a look over, the wolf turned back to the path ahead, but he stopped in his tracks after he walked a few paces. His nose twitched as he struggled to figure out which direction the female wolf's scent was coming from.
