Fleck smiles uneasily, still not saying anything. Honestly, she didn't know if she would ever talk again after David drowned. Or froze. Who knows? Stepping out of the harness, she licked Rome affectionately, pulling away to show she wasn't trying to make it awkward. Shaking her fur, Fleck lay down, head on her paws.

Koda nodded, secretly feeling like she was only saying that to get away from him. He tried to be good, but everyone always liked Rome more than him. Always-- it was clear everyone would rather him be in charge than Koda.

Rome
I grin a little because of Fleck's lick. She looks uncomfortable though. I sigh "Ah, sorry. I'm just trying to do my best to do what's best for us and comfort us, but truth is I can barely manage our team. And Tess is the one who knows how to comfort others." I apologize, feeling like everyone knows I have no idea what I'm doing. I hope they can see I'm trying. I'm doing decently, I guess.

Tessa
I begin to walk away but decide to hold up a second. "You can come with, if you want." I tell Koda. I didn't want to leave him to stand there by himself. Also, I think he's a bit on the feeling down side.

[derision]

Fleck pricked her ears, but said nothing. Tail thumping against the ground a little, she watched him intently, as if he was going to do something.

Koda shrugged, sitting down and staring at his paws.

Rome
I look outside then back to Fleck. "Umm, yea." I say feeling defeated. It will be better in the morning...
I try to convince myself. "You're not hungry are you?" I say to her. I'm sure some of us are, or will be soon. I should probably go out in the morning to hunt. We have the food left in the bags on the sled still, but that will only last us a week probably. That's how much time we had left before we made it back to our home before things turned bad.

Tessa
I frown, confused. Have I done something wrong to disappoint? "Oh, alright. Well if you change your mind, I'm sure Simiko wouldn't mind it." I tell him. I walk over to Simiko but she appears to be asleep. I consider weather to walk away and let her sleep, but remain cold, or if I should lay down near her and risk waking her up.

Simiko woke up and looked at Tessa. She sighed and got up. "Hello."

Tess
I jump a little, startled. "Oh my, you scared me! Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you. You were shivering though, I thought I'd come see if you wanted anyone to huddle with." I explain to her, blushing. Why do I make things so awkward? I look down at her. "Do you want your harness off?" I ask sheepishly, trying not to invade personal business. I know some of us are keeping it on for memory sake.

Simiko glanced at her a bit and than fully looked at her and sighed. "Ya I need my harness off" he said.

Tessa
I nod in agreement. I find the latch and use my teeth to pull part of the clip off, like I saw Rome doing. This way we don't have to destroy the harness. It unhinges, allowing Simiko to wiggle out. "That should work, I think." I tell her even though she knows this already.

Shasta

She stayed lying down, looking over at Rome. She saw Fleck lick him affectionately, Shasta looked a little bit bothered by this, but she shook it off and didn't show any emotions about it. She stood up and stuck her head outside, she nibbled at the snow, now starving. She overheard Rome talking to Fleck about hunger, a bit of an uneasy tone to his voice, he sounded like he knew he'd have to be in charge of getting the pack food. She walked up to him and nudged his shoulder gently. "Hey Rome… so what will we do eventually about food? We'll have to find and catch it I guess. Well, just wanted to say I can help, when I was a pup my father taught me how to hunt pretty well." She spoke cheerfully, although obviously distressed. She glanced over at Bear, he was resting well. She hoped he could be happy again some day.

I spot Shasta come over, I hope she's not upset I'm taking so long. Man, it's hard giving everyone their deserved amount of attention. I hope nobody is feeling neglected... I'm glad Tess is so good about that. She's always been nurturing. Shasta talks about food. "You know, I was just mentioning that. We have some food in the bag that would've lasted us the rest of our planned trip, but I think we should save some of it for emergencies. I was going to hunt in the morning, I could definitely use your help, thank you." I say, relived that it will not just me in the wilderness, hunting for ten (?) other dogs.
