blaze panted as the ring's wooden door pulled up. yelping, whimpering. the sounds came from a badly wounded dog. its beautiful once-white fur was now stained red with blood. what will they do with the dog? blaze wondered, but her questions were suddenly answered as one of the workers handed her to another.
"take her to a vet clinic, knock on the door, tie her leash to the handle, run." he harshly handed the leash to the other, smaller man. "no objections, simple task. got it? good." he went back through the ring's door to announce yet another match. blaze shuddered at the barks of diablo, his fight barks. the ting! sounded the start of the match, and blaze covered her ears. five minutes passed. then six, then seven.
"give us five minutes, folks!" the announcer's booming voice yelled. "we need a breather!" the announcer opened the wooded door, holding a leash with diablo on the end, and with her cousin, Delgado, on another. Delgado was a very strong german shepherd brute who had huge muscles like diablo and was once in the police force. diablo was the cause of Delgado's sense of smell going missing, his partner becoming paralyzed and his life in the police force ending. he and his criminal partner attacked Delgado and his partner. as the announcer handed the leashes to another man, he told him to make it fast. then, the announcer looked throughout the cages. he opened 1-year old blaze's cage and leashed her up as she yelped and whimpered, then he grabbed a male german shepherd mix, much older and much taller than blaze, and brought them into the ring, where he unclipped the leashes and let them be free in the ring. the older shepherd growled at blaze. blaze could tell the male was at least 5 or 6 years old. an elder, of course he got caught. he was slower and weaker. but the elder's are always wise. the male growled at blaze, then softened. the shouts of people yelled at them to fight. the male spoke.
"i'm duke, young one." he woofed. "want to learn to be a real fighter?." blaze nodded shakily. "attack me."
taken by surprise by the order, blaze lunged wildly at him. with one massive swipe of the paw, he growled and batted her harshly to the side, without injuring her.
"your lunge, its uneven." he snapped, walking close to her to pretend they were really fighting. "you have to jump off both hind paws at the same time, not one at a time. first your front paws, at the same time, then get all the power from your back paws, when you strongly push off." he growled and charged at her. "dodge. powerfully lunge off your paws, not evenly, but push off your left side, your right is to help you land."
blaze obeyed his words and dodged him perfectly, landing on both right paws, rolling over in a side summersault and landing on all fours. duke slammed into the wall, only as an act.
"great work!" duke complimented. "now, for attacking, you need to extend your claws out fully, then you always need to weaken someone first, before you kill them, or if your dealing with animals, hunt them, or just simply injuring them worse."
blaze defeated duke, faking, then the next match did the same, just the other way around. people found this fascinating and kept making them fight, blaze learning more and more.
at the age of 2 years and 6 months old, she had fully learned all she needed to learn about fighting, and was a fully-equipped fighter. she had defeated her cousin Delgado twice, for real [ to get her to be stronger, for he was ] duke, 4 times, and a few of the best fighting dogs in the ring, at least five times each. she was at the rank of second place. first place was of course, diablo. and now they had to fight for first. blaze knew she could take him. she made it to second place, she can make it to first!
and she did.
she had a very long fight with diablo, doing every single move she practiced with duke, and now it was time to pay him back. after she was healed and bandaged up, and she was ready. she bit down on the lock and twisted her head so she would twist it upwards, then she pulled outwards. the cage door swung open, and in an instant a chorus of barks happened.
"save me!"
"be a friend!"
"help me, too!"
blaze heard footsteps so closed the crate and held it with her claws, pretending to lie down.
"shut up!" the man said, then went back away.
"be quiet, and i'll help you all!" blaze shouted. but she also had a plan. "if I open your cage, you must open three dogs cages. I know how to work the back door lock, where we will escape." blaze pushed open her already-unlocked cage. then, she unlocked duke's and five other dog's, until everyone's cage was opened. then, she typed in the password, opened the three locks and typed in another passcode, which unlocked the fourth lock. then, the door opened, the bells rung and blaze didn't take the time to silent them- all the dogs bolted. the people yelled. blaze, duke and Delgado turned a corner and stood behind the garbage cans.
"this is where we say goodbye." duke woofed to blaze.
"but-" blaze tried, but was interrupted.
"i'm a lone dog. a stray." duke grunted. he started to walk away. "good luck, blaze. remember what I taught you. we will meet again." he smiled, then started to walk away.
blaze smiled, then growled at Delgado. "lets go. we need to move."
"i know a pack. a stray dog pack. follow me, this time."
a month later, they were cozied into a pack and blaze had a boyfriend, who accepted her for her new personality- the rough side- the side that was caused by the ring- but he loved someone else more. her name was marry. and blaze found out.
and it changed her.
she was then a cold-hearted, wild, fierce, strong, tough, heartless, rude fae with the huge, brute muscles- unusual for both a fae and an aussie.
