Once the patrol had returned to camp, he stood in the back of the gathered pack, looking expectantly up at Moon. The german shepherd was always cautious of his alpha, but Hunter knew that Moon was just anxious to be as good a leader as his father. The pack just needed to give him a chance.

Aylen ate her meal peacefully, glad that the pack dogs hadn't bothered her yet. Shaking out her tan and white fur, she cautiously glanced around her surroundings through hazel eyes. Even though the day had yet to bring a problem to her, the loner remained wary, as she was still located on the pack's territory.

She looked over at the gathering dogs. "Looks like there's a Pack Meeting..." She turned to look at Nita. "We should probably find spots before it starts."

He walked behind Lilanny to the meeting. He sat at the back, even farther away from the others than the fea was. Better safe than sorry.

He gave up; those who weren't there would hear about the Meeting later. "Pack mates," He started off, a bit nervously. "I know a lot of you don't trust in my leadership. Personally, I don't blame you. There isn't an Alpha in this world who could equal my father, Kod. Already I have gone three days without choosing my Beta, which probably makes you guys doubt my leadership skills even more. So far I haven't been such a great Alpha, but truly, it isn't my fault. I think you guys forget that I was only the Beta for three months before my father died. I didn't have a lot of time to prepare for this." He had planned for that to sound a bit, I don't know, leader-ly? But it just came out a bit awkwardly. He took a breath then continued, a bit more steadily. "I know I have a lot to prove to you guys. I have to prove I'm a good Alpha; that I can lead you guys and make good decisions. So I think it's time that I've started. I have decided on who I want as my Beta."

Calista perked her ears towards Moon, as he started to announce the new beta. Her fur pricked with nervousness, glancing around she could see The Baron annoyed. He would have made a good beta as well, due to his size she thought. Narrowing her eyes she almost felt bad for not mentioning him, sighing she returned her gaze towards Moon. Would they support his decision if he chose her? Would they support her even though she wasn't very big? Calista looked down at her paws, had she messed everything up for him? She had tried to support him and help him through his pack not accepting his leadership. Would she only make it worse? The thoughts filled her head and she tried to clear them, shaking herself Calista tried to calm down her eyes darting from dog to dog.

She'd be a good Beta too; she was quick and cunning and knew how to think before acting. I'm glad I'm not the Alpha- I'd never be able to choose...

He paused for a moment, then continued. "The Beta must be smart, willing to think before acting and willing to take responsibility for actions they make. They have to be a good fighter, but not yearn for battle, as well as a good hunter, but not a dog who kills for sport." He thought that turned out pretty good. With more confidence, he went one. "The new Beta shall be Calista, if they agree to the ranking that I have offered." He quoted his father when he said this last part, just replacing the names. There was something about those words that sounded official. He looked at Calista and waited for her reply.

Koda ran down the river side, sniffing for the smell of freshly killed rabbit. The scent hit his nose after he passed some bushes. A moment later he saw it, laying in a pool of sunlight. I was right! He thought to himself with a yip, then grabbed his rabbit and ran back the way he came.

Fear shot through the corgi mix, looking up at Moon shooting him a small smile, she nodded before replying loudly. "I accept the new rank as Beta." Calista looked around as she walked towards where Moon was standing, she should be heading up to him right? Hopping up onto a ledge near where he was standing , then onto where Moon was standing she looked down at the pack. Did they approve?

aris listened o moon, she'd thought either her or the Barron would become beta; they were larger than the little corgie dog. Beta's are supposed to take over if the alpha's away or sick right? A small dog taking over for the alpha? That didn't seem right to her.

But I stand by it when I say that Calista will be a good Beta. Betas, and Alphas, aren't always giants that can take down deer single-pawed. Some are small, some are big. It doesn't matter what size they are as long as they're a good leader." He narrowed his eyes and looked at the Pack, waiting for someone to challenge him on this.

A puzzled look rose upon Apollo's face as he hadn't expected the small dog to get the rank. Maybe The Baron or Aris, but Calista? He thought about speaking out on this, but upon hearing Moon explain the decision, he decided to stay quiet, narrowing his eyes a bit. It was true, a leader was a leader, no matter how small. So maybe she did deserve a shot. Still, he knew it would take a lot for the pack to eventually look up to the new beta. Unless she stands on a rock, he joked to himself before quickly getting serious again. Hopefully Calista wouldn't fail them because if she did, it would mean Moon would've failed them also.

Lucas

He cocked his head slightly, with a pleased smile on his face, upon hearing Moon announce his decision. His hunch had been right. Calista was now the beta, and he could tell right away that not many dogs approved. Lucas did though, he trusted Moon and so would always try to back his decisions. After all, it's not the size of the dog in a fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog...or something like that. "Speech!" he barked, curious as to what Calista would say, or if she would even talk.
