Lyss bent down and softly picked up Rex by the nape of his neck. "Ready?" She mumbled through his fur as she walked forward onto the log. Her long legs cleared the log in only a few steps, paws quickly back on mother Earth. Succeding in crossing, she set Rex down to wait for Goldie, the other pup, and Brandy.

Goldie took a deep breath and cleared the ''bridge'' with just 2-4 jumps and put Sparky down on the other side waiting for Brandy.

Brandy cautiously stepped onto the log. It shuddered under his weight. Swallowing, he took another step. So far so good. Then he took another step, feeling a little more confident. But then it started to crack! He stared at Lyss and Goldie in horror, and quickly tried to take another giant step to get to the bank but no such luck. "Help!" He called, scrabbling desperately to get a grip on the split log, but he lipped down, and went under. The brook was actually pretty deep, but the main problem was the water. It was sluggish, and kept a firm grip on him as he struggled to break free. It dragged him slowly down the brook. Brandy managed to stick his nose out for a few seconds but hat was it. He was stuck.

"Where ARE they!?" Orla said impatiently, pacing back and forth anxiously "They should be back by now!"

Eyes wide with fear, she barked in alarm, feeling the icy talons of fear gripping her chest. She ran along the brook easily with it's slow current, keeping pace with Brandy. "Keep your head up!" She panted as she began forming a plan. Getting the longest stick she could, she nudged it into the water for him to grab onto.

Brandy grabbed the stick, but keeping his jaw clenched around the thing was too much of an effort. "can't... do... it..." He gasped for breath. He closed his eyes for a moment, then using every last little bit of strength he had left grabbed on to the stick and held on tight.

Pulling with all of her strength, she managed to pull him in a bit closer to shore. With a final tug, she dug her front paws into the ground, pulling him up onto the bank so his head was out of the water, and we wasn't being carried downstream anymore. Silently, she pulled him up to a grassy patch. "Are you ok?" She asked, panic stricken.

Brandy nodded, not enough breath for him to talk. He tried to pull himself up.
"Just...take...Goldie...and...the...others...back...to...the...pack..." He wheezed. He felt hot and cold and dizzy and shivery and very very light-headed. He lay limp on the floor with his eyes closed resting. Then attempted to pull himself up again, but with no more luck.
"Go" He gasped, gesturing towards the direction back to the pack.

"You're crazy" she mumbled to him. "The others are perfectly fine waiting there, they didn't just fall in a brook. Besides, what would that make me if I left the alpha behind?" She lay down next to him, trying to prevent him from going into shock. "You're gonna be ok, don't worry."

Brandy gave a strangled laugh. "Course I am"He wheezed. "I'm like... an old... dog" He croaked smiling. "I think...I'll just...nap...for a... while..." Brandy said, closing his eyes slowly. Even THAT took a lot of effort.
