(Alright!)
When he finally saw the animal, it was an elk - standing and looking around with beady black eyes.
It knew he was here. He knew it was there. It looked healthy, something which wasn't good for him, since he was a lone hunter, with his abiltiies diminished from famine. He took a step forward, once, twice, watching the elk intently with burning gold eyes. It /couldn't/ hurt to try, would it? Now, if he only had the surprise and could grab the neck...
For awhile, he waited as the elk resumed trudging and digging through the snow in a quest for food, quietly following behind. When the moment was right, he would strike. And that moment was... Now! With a quick leap, Lykaios lunged through the air, a mess of fangs and snarls as he landed upon the elk's back, hind legs slipping as he bit down upon the base of the elk's neck.
It screamed terribly loud as it tossed its head back and forth, bucking and kicking while Lykaios merely struggled to hold on. His claws weren't made like that of a big cat's- they were meant to grip the ground, not flesh, amd were dull as a result of this, making his footing hard as he struggled to remain on.
But soon just as the struggle had started, it was over as the elk rammed its flank against a tree - and Lykaios with it. He yelped and let go as he tumbled to the ground and the elk nimbly ran off. He almost went to pursue it, almost, but then he realized he could not fight something so strong in his weakened state. His eyes narrowed at the elk as its hind legs running disappeared from his vision, before getting back to his feet.
His side hurt - but that was no matter. With a disappointed growl, he soon decided to forage for the poppy seeds Malone had requested. He had nothing to feed her, but he needed the poppies.
