He nodded licking his paw where the beetle had clamped on. "Thank you." he squeaked.

Flare looked around for Griffin and ran up to him.

He hadn't seen his adoptive mom in a while so he padded up to Flare and asked "Wheres Melody? Is she playing hide and seek?"

Grief filled Flare's face. "Melody.....Melody's dead." Tears dropped from her eyes. "Hunters killed her."

Sam had heard gun shots and when he didn't see Melody running back he lowered his muzzle. "We have to go back to the cubs.," he said as he headed back to the cave. His heart was racing and he felt a slight sadness from the losing Melody.

His ears flattened and he gave Flare a tortured glare. "No! Y-you're lying!" he yowled. He turned around and ran. He didn't pay attention to where he was going, he just ran. He felt like his heart had been ripped in half again and he couldn't bear it. In the back of his mind, he knew he wasn't going to get very far because of his short legs, but he didn't care.

Flare overtook him quickly. She pulled him close to her. "Im not lying. I wish I was, but why would I lie about something like this?"

He fought away from Flare and glared again, but it was more hurt and betrayal than anything. he was only 4 months old and he had lost two mothers. He tried to muster up the energy to start running again, but he couldn't. He collapsed against Flares flank and started yowling in anguish.
