Rules

Postby Catastrophic » Fri May 30, 2014 10:55 am

General RP Rules

Read all of the rules
If you can't be bothered to read them all then turn away now, they are important

Feel free to make your own forms
Forms must include, Name, Age, Gender, picture/description, personality, eventer or staff(and job), country of origin (height and breed for horses). Specialty (show, jumping dressage or cross country or all 3) for both horse and rider please. Extra details are much appreciated the more detailed the better. Of course you are free to use the pre prepared form at the bottom of the page.

feel free to play staff and people from all cultures and countries
Although based in north America people travel from across the world to train here, we also need staff. The staff do not compete as much as the others but are allowed they often do training and such. please state if they are trainer or eventer in your form.

Your character may only ride in the English discipline
This is a role play about horse show eventing, eventing consists of Dressage, show jumping and cross country. All English riding disciplines. Your character may specialize in one or them all.

Don't join if you can't write 2 detailed sentences each post
I expect semi accurate spelling/grammar and 2 lines, preferably 2 sentences, per post. This is also realistic so keep it that way.

You can break the barn rules
These rules can NOT be broken, however the barn rules can be broken to add to the drama so long as it doesn't get to the point of them being ignored completely.

Follow all of the site rules
The obvious really, fade to black, don't swear, if you wouldn't show it to a 10 year old don't post it.

You can break the barn rules
These rules can NOT be broken, however the barn rules can be broken to add to the drama so long as it doesn't get to the point of them being ignored completely.

Your characters should....
be at least 18, own a horse of their own (no more than 2) , horses should not be wild they should be relatively good show horses. Horses should not start eventing until aged 5 but I would prefer them to be older than this as horses can continue showing well into their teens, should not have crushes on your own characters

Horses are horses
Horses do not talk, they do not get jealous, even tame horses have wild instincts and will form a herd in the pasture. Please stick to the behavior of a horse they are not people they don't behave like us. This one really bugs me.

Warm/hotblooded horses are preferred
please stick to horses suitable for high level English discipline showing such as warm-bloods, tb's and possibly some Arabians.

Barn Rules
No one in the barn after 9pm
Every one is to be out of the barn by 9pm unless specific permission has been given or it is the event of an emergency.

Riding hats should be worn at all times
Horses are unpredictable, for your own safety you must wear a riding hat.

No pets
Pets are not permitted at the center, or in the house. Dogs and cats roaming the yard can pose a threat to horses.

Children under 16 are not to be left unattended in the yard or house
Your friends and family are welcome to visit but please make sure young children do not interfere with the horses, these are sensitive animals and both horse and human could end up injured.

Breeding must be cleared with the academy owner
Spaces here are limited and very much prized, therefore mares and stallions are to be kept separately and any foals must be approved or you are at risk of exclusion from the academy. Only retired mares may be bred.

Your horse is your responsibility
All livery here is DIY, we simply offer the training and facility's please ensure your horse is well looked after.

.:Barn Name:.
Bailey
.: Show Name :.
Back Water Bay
.: Gender :.
Stallion
.: Age :.
12 years old
.: Breed :.
Thoroughbred
.: Height :.
16.2hh
.: Specialty :.
Show jumping
.: Owner :.
Amelia Croft
.: Colour :.
Bay
.: Markings :.
Single white sock, between hoof and fetlock on left hind leg.
.: History :.
Nothing interesting. He was born on a stud farm, both parents were retired show jumping horses. He was sold aged 3 as a ready to break stallion, fully trained, broken in and then sold on to another owner where he was shown locally but not often. He spent a lot of his time being schooled and used as a general pleasure horse. Aged 8 he was sold to his current owner with all the skills he needed to become a good show horse she just needed to refine them. Although his training began later than most she continued his training and he became the show horse he is today. Since then he and Amelia have traveled far and wide to various shows.
.: Personality :.
A slightly older yet spirited stallion. Bailey thoroughly enjoys every moment of his life, whether it's a quiet hack or a highly competitive competition, he'll always be ready to go and pleased about it. Although eager and happy he can have his occasional moments like all horses where 'that strange looking jump' will put him off and cause a brief moment of panic, (although he's never managed to throw Amelia off yet, which must be something) but he always gets quickly back on task. Of course Baileys thoroughbred and showing bloodlines have an impact on his temperament. His enjoyment, happiness and eagerness are often a result of his high energy levels which can sometimes get out of control resulting in random spurts of bucking or the odd gallop 'through' rather than 'over' the jump when he's so excited his focus and sense is gone and all he want's to do is 'play play play'. When he's not out in the open or over excited Bailey is food orientated and never overly happy with his strict diet which helps him stay in good competing condition. He'll often be found hammering away at his stable door or prancing at the paddock gate whenever it's feeding time, and he defiantly knows when that is.When not looking for food his high energy continues and he's usually pushing things around his stall, chasing the birds in his paddock or trying to play with whichever human has had the displeasure of trying to catch him as he romps around the paddock. He's defiantly not trying to act his age.
.: Other :.
He is usually shown wearing the colour red.
Favorite treats are apples, and sugar cubes.
"He's a pain in the butt to catch in the paddock" as said by Amelia, his owner

.:Barn Name:.
Sapphire
.: Show Name :.
Spellbound
.: Gender :.
Mare
.: Age :.
7 years old
.: Breed :.
holsteiner
.: Height :.
15.2hh
.: Specialty :.
Dressage, Cross country, show jumping (3 day eventer)
.: Owner :.
Bethany Tiddle
.: Colour :.
Dapple grey with light fleabites
.: Markings :.
dapples on hind legs, stomach and neck, faint fleabites across body.
.: History :.
Sapphire was born unexpectedly at a showing yard when a young stallion jumped into a mares paddock. Both horses were holsteiners. The stallion was just 4 years old and the mare a 10 year old dressage competitor. The foal was born and named Sapphire. She was kept by the yard until she was weaned from her mother at 8 months old, she was sold cheaply as an unwanted yet purebred foal and they intended to use her for light schooling once grown and trained. At 4 years old she was broken and it was already clear she was capable of much more than light training and became a handful for the new owners who had expected an athletic yet obedient horse. It was decided that a more experienced and capable owner was needed and she was sold to a trainer who kept the mare for a year and later sold her on to Bethany who began to show the mare who was aged 6 at the time of her first, local show. After just a few months they were already moving up through the show ranks.
.: Personality :.
Sapphire knows how to be a handful at times and is defiantly not one for beginners. Although she is not in the habit of misbehaving she needs a careful touch with clear commands. Just a tug on the reins which is a little too rough can confuse and startle her often ending in a disastrous display of head bobbing and prancing. Possibly the best way to describe her is sensitive, once given the correct commands Sapphire will never put a hoof wrong, always striving for the best and trying to impress her owner. Sapphire could be described as sensitive in more than one way as she has formed a deep bond with her owner in the short few years they have been together and is sensitive to change involving her. A new rider can send her crazy and totally out of character, even a new bit must be introduced slowly, carefully and by people who she trusts a lot, this is usually Bethany. If you are careful and aware of Sapphires strange habits and needs she can be a very loving mare who will happily do as you ask and let you lie on her back as she grazes on the grass.
.: Other :.
Shown in the colour light blue in cross country and show jumping and the standard white for dressage.
doesn't like strangers
doesn't like to be hand fed and won't take treats directly out of peoples hands.

.:Barn Name:.
Cobalt
.: Show Name :.
Stunt Double
.: Gender :.
Gelding
.: Age :.
10 years old
.: Breed :.
Hanoverian
.: Height :.
16.2hh
.: Specialty :.
Dressage, Cross country, show jumping (3 day eventer)
.: Owner :.
Samantha Abbott
.: Colour :.
Seal bay
.: Markings :.
blaze, 4 socks up to fetlock
.: History :.
Cobalt was raised on a small stud yard. He began his showing career aged 5 but was shortly retired aged 6 after a tendon injury. He was sold cheaply as his owners were not willing to keep up with his treatment and nurse him back to health. She was bought by Samantha who took the time and effort to help him to heal, after a year he was 7 years old and ready to go back into work. Although he was still capable of going over a jump and completing a dressage test his injury had taken it's toll on his eventing career and he can't be shown as often as some may like and Samantha prefers to stick to shows which won't challenge the gelding too much and revoke his injury.
.: Personality :.
Cobalt can be a bit of a plod-along at times especially when he's got nothing to focus on. He's not your typical high sprung eventer and whilst he loves to make his owner proud he probably would complain about living the rest of his days as a pleasure and trail riding horse. Most of the time he loves the company of others, whether human or horse but can sometimes be a little intimidating. He'll quite happily stand whilst being asked to and is often referred to as more dog like than horse like. As well as loving the attention of his owner and anyone else willing to spend time with him Cobalt is also highly food orientated and always looking for treats. When being ridden Cobalt maintains his plod-along attitude which is usually conflicted with his urge to please.
.: Other :.
Shown in the colour dark green.
Likes company

.: Full name :.
Amelia Louise Croft
.: Nickname :.
Amy or just Amelia
.: Gender :.
Female
.: Age :.
19 years old
.: Country of Origin :.
Australia
.: Staff or Eventer :.
Eventer
.: Specialty :.
Show Jumping
.: Horse :.
Bailey
.: Hair Colour :.
dyed an unnatural shade of red.
.: Build :.
Average height, slim but not under weight.
.: History :.
Amelia was born into a large family including, her parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. She's the youngest out of her 4 other siblings. her 2 sisters were born in Britain where her family originate but the family moved to Australia before her and her brothers were born. Amelia always enjoyed her life in Australia but was keen to explore the rest of the world from an early age. Other than exploring and traveling Amelia grew up loving animals. She took riding lessons from age 9 and got her first pony aged 13, a white gelding called Storm. Storm passed away when Amelia was 15. Not ready for another horse Amelia began taking lessons until she was 17 and bought her current horse Bailey. Amelia and her horse were accepted into the academy 3 months before her 19th birthday.
.: Personality :.
Amelia is a quiet but friendly girl. She tends to tag along with her friends a lot and enjoys their company but would rather sit and listen the their stories and jokes than join in convocation. She would never describe her self as shy as she enjoys going out and meeting new people but she doesn't like to be the center of attention. She's also not into all of that romantic stuff and is often too busy to think about relationship, she prefers to hang around with her friends once in a while and is, some would argue too, dedicated to Bailey and their showing career which is where she spends most of her time. Whilst dedicated Amelia is also a very hard worker and reluctant to give up once she has started something, this is the attitude which has gotten her and Bailey so far.
.: Other :.
Other hobbies include, sketching/art , playing guitar, running.

.: Full name :.
Bethany Jane Tiddle
.: Nickname :.
Beth
.: Gender :.
Female
.: Age :.
23 years old
.: Country of Origin :.
England
.: Staff or Eventer :.
Eventer
.: Specialty :.
3 day eventing (show jumping, cross country, dressage) but prefers dressage.
.: Horse :.
Saphire
.: Hair Colour :.
Dark brown and slightly curly
.: Build :.
Quite tall but a little stocky.
.: History :.
Bethany grew up around horses, her mother was a trainer and enjoyed dressage competitions and bought Bethany her first pony the moment she could walk. Bethanys first pony was a small bay shetland which she used to ride around the yard where her mother kept her own horses. Most of her early life was spent around horses. She first got into competing at local competitions aged 11, although not placing in her first show she decided never to give up and followed in her mothers foot steps. She applied for the academy aged 19 but didn't qualify for auditions, after many years of improvement she decided to try again and has been in the academy for a year. Coming from the quaint British country side was quite a change for her but she soon adapted and is often seen supporting all of the academy's team even if she isn't competing.
.: Personality :.
Whilst not the quietest of people Beth can be a truly caring person and tries to see the best in everyone. She's often very supportive of everyone and doesn't like to make enemy's, although if you push her far enough you'll probably get a piece of her mind. Beth isn't very shy and is certainly more of an outgoing type, she enjoys talking (maybe a little too much) and is a very talkative and happy person in general. Whilst talking is her strong point jokes certainly are not, although she has some sense of humor she never really grasped the comedy thing.
.: Other :.
Other hobbies include, Photography, gaming.

Image
.: Full name :.
Samantha Abbott
.: Nickname :.
Sam
.: Gender :.
Female
.: Age :.
37 years old
.: Country of Origin :.
America
.: Staff (job) or Eventer :.
Staff, controls auditions, enforces rules, overlooks the eventers and yard and general trainer/riding teacher.
.: Specialty :.
3 day eventing (show jumping, cross country, dressage).
.: Horse :.
Cobalt
.: Hair Colour :.
Brown
.: Build :.
About average
.: History :.
Sam started riding aged 7 at a local yard, taking lessons until she was 11 and began loaning a small roan gelding. When she was 16 she finally got the money for her own horse, a Irish draught X tb who she began competing seriously on. As soon as she turned 18 she applied for the academy which gained her a spot. She stayed with the academy as a eventer until she was 25 when she gained a job and became staff at the academy as a trainer. She continued to work at the academy until she took over top position on the academy.
.: Personality :.
Whilst always willing to help and often looking out for the eventers and other staff at the yard, Sam is often seen as a strict teacher only striving for the best. She isn't afraid to tell you what your doing wrong but certainly won't do so without helping you to improve. Always willing to help and always there for support Sam is seen as a mother figure by many and her strict teaching and sometimes stubborn attitude never causes much of a problem. Although she appears to have a tough exterior Sam really is kind at heart.

He grew up on a equine and cattle farm. life was normal for him, a mother and father, a brother and two sisters.
