Behind glass, a few remain. The last handful of wolves to walk the Earth. This place is not a zoo, but a sanctuary for these last wolves. The goal: for these wolves to breed and repopulate, so that there may someday be wolves roaming not just this habitat, but the wilderness.

This is a semi-realistic rp. It is mostly realistic, with a few non-realistic bits added in, for drama and to make things interesting. These are the breeding system, the ability for wolves to talk, and the body language, but please keep everything else realistic.

There are three habitats: one for females over two years, one for males over two years, and one for youth between one and two years. This system is used to control the breeding of the wolves, and to make it easier to keep track of them.

Habitat 3
This is the habitat for all youth-males and females-between one and two years of age. The humans inspect the wolves before putting them here, all weak/small/disabled wolves are put down, to keep bloodlines strong and healthy..

The breeding system here is a bit peculiar, very similar to the breeding system of wild horses, but it works. Each winter, when the females are in stage 2 heat,** the males are moved from habitat 2 into habitat 1. This is so that they may find mates. Mates are chosen based mainly on personality, and the wolves' personal preferences in a mate. Some wolves choose to find mates early, so they can get to know them. Others like to wait until stages 4/5 to find mates. Each male may claim and mate with up to three*** females, who become a part of his breeding group. A male will typically mate with his group females multiple times over the course of a few days, to ensure that she will give birth to his pups. He will mate with these same three each year, and no other males will mate with them. Although, females sometimes are stolen or purposely move to another group. Once the pups born reach 6 months of age, the males are moved back to habitat 2 until next breeding.

** there are five stages of heat.

~stage one: heat just beginning, rare chance of mating
~stage two: somewhat willing to mate, only with group male, low-mid chance of mating
~stage three: willing to mate with her group male only, may fight if he is too pushy but unlikely
~stage four: willing to mate with her group male, may mate with a different male if he is persistent
~stage five: will mate with any male as soon as he asks (IF he uses one of the more serious(*) gestures. If not, he may have to ask up to two times before she accepts him), even if he is not her group male.

***If some wolves choose not to obtain three females, there may be some left without mates. In this case, a male who has a complete group may mate with an extra female, though she will not be counted in his group.

After breeding season ends, we will time skip to a just before pups are born. During this time, females will leave the group den to dig out a nesting den, which she will have her pups in. This is where the female and pups will reside, until the pups are old enough to play outside. The mother will be aggressive towards all other wolves, including the father, until the pups are strong enough to go outdoors. The male will provide good for the female. All pups who are born are either destined to die(D)*, destined to be released(R)*, or destined to stay(S)* and live their life in the habitat. Up to 6 pups may be born in a litter, but only two will survive, one of which will be released. This is so that there is not an explosion of wolves(it would be difficult to roleplay with that many).

Once they reach 6 months of age, pups are moved to habitat 3. Before entering this habitat, they will be inspected. Strong, healthy pups are kept while weaker pups, sickly pups, and runts are put down. Only two pups from each litter will pass inspection, one of which will be released into the wild (and therefore no longer roleplayed with) once it reached one year of age.

Personality: Brie is typically feisty and a strong fighter. She is fast and swift, and she has yet to meet a wolf she can't outrun. She is smart, and isn't easily tricked. She likes to do things her way sometimes, but she tries to do what will also help others. She is a bit strong willed, and if she believes you are wrong she will let you know. Although she is tough, she has a soft spot for the little ones, and enjoys their company. If you want to be her sweetheart, you have your work cut out for you.

Personality: Rio is a good natured and friendly wolf. He almost always carries a smile upon his muzzle, and always has a kind word for everyone. He is more of a lover than a fighter, but he will fight for what he believes in, and will fight to protect those he cares about. If he loves you he will protect you with his life. Rio is strong physically and mentally, and can often sense when someone is unhappy. He often has a good amount of energy, but is fine with taking things slow and relaxing every now and then. He is independent, and can sometimes get annoyed when being ordered around, but typically doesn't show it. Rio is also the kind of wolf you can trust, even with your deepest darkest secrets.

Nickname: She prefers her full name, but occasionally someone calls her Ally.

Gender: female




Personality: Allita is a pretty strong fae, not physically but mentally. She has good self-esteem, and isn't afraid to stick up for herself or her close friends. When you first meet her, she can be a bit shy, but as she gets to know you you will find an intelligent and friendly wolf. Allita is a sweet fae, and doesn't like to see people hurt or sad.

Personality: Jax is more of a goofy kind of guy. He is quite the flirty fellow, and prefers to wait until the end of the breeding season to find mates. He doesn't put much work into relationships, but because of his strong build, the humans have kept him in the breeding program.
