We are the wild ones.

Were you a show horse destined for greatness when someone simply left the gate open? Or were you born wild and will you forever be free? Whatever your history, you are now a wild horse, living in the plains of what is left of wild America. The fresh air fills your lungs and there is room to stretch your legs, will you find a herd and survive or are you destined to fall prey to the many predators or hard conditions? However you choose your path you are wild and you will be for the rest of your life...or will you?

In the wild, horses naturally live in an organized social group based on the family unit called a band. A band normally contains a dominant stallion, mares, and juveniles.

A dominant stallion, usually 6 years of age or older, will be in the company of one mare or a group of mares 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. He sires the offspring, and these foals are with their band for at least one year, usually two.

Usually the band has a dominant mare who will be responsible for leading the family group in their grazing. She will lead the family to the water hole and to the mineral lick where they dig for these dietary supplement. She will guide them to sheltered places out of the wind when winter storms howl.

All wild horses are herd animals living off the land in harems dominated by the strongest stallions.

A Stallion owns the herd and sires all the herd's offspring. His role is to keep intruders and predators away from his mares. When you see a group of wild horses moving across the landscape, normally the stallion will be in the rear. He usually runs behind the herd, keeping the slower horses moving and protecting the group from attack.

Occasionally, a two or three year old will still be with their band, but generally the stallion will discourage a young male who is coming of age from consorting with the band.

Young females may be driven off by their mothers, or they simply may choose to leave when they come into estrous. They may select or be selected by another stallion who will breed with her and guard her vigilantly from rivals. By encouraging their offspring to leave the band, wild horses avoid inbreeding.

Most wild horses are more genetically diverse than any domestic horse breeds. As a result they are better able to deal with changing environments and can resist extreme drought or cold better than domestic breeds.

Every herd has leaders, followers, and a well defined pecking order known as a dominance hierarchy.

The Alpha Horse is the dominant leader in a herd. Horses instinctively seek leadership. The Alpha Horse provides leadership and security in a herd.

It is quite common for the Alpha Horse to be an old mare. The members of the herd are submissive to the Alpha Horse when it's time to eat or drink. She often leads the herd to safety and food.

When a horse breaks the rules of the herd, it is rejected and vulnerable to predators. Rejection teaches horses to be submissive and dependent upon leaders for survival and food.

This complex social dynamic holds the wild horse bands together, and each individual knows his or her place in the order. Rules of band behavior are carefully followed. Punishment to a young animal is swift, usually just a head movement with ears laid back or a nip or gentle kick.

The Rules


1. All CS rules apply
2. Eleven months is a long time for a roleplay, so horses can give birth after one season. For example: a mare covered in spring can give birth in autumn
3. Try to stay active, if you are inactive for over a week without notifying me, your horses will be removed
5. At least three lines per post, even if you have writer's block I don't want any one liners
6. Be nice to each other, your characters may be mean to each other but please respect the others. Also, if someone asks for a recap please give them one instead of ignoring them
7. Be fair during fights! Give the other roleplayer a chance to respond and be realistic. A two year old won't be able to defeat a ten year old, if the age gap is small, age won't matter too much, but if it's a large age gap than the older one will win. Please decide the winner through pm so that the fight doesn't last forever, if you can't decide then I will do a randomizer
8. Keep in mind that a horse who was tame for a majority of their life will not be as good and experienced as wild horse at fighting, snaking, ect.
9. Drama is encouraged! If you have any ideas, feel free to pm me. However, don't go overboard. Drama is fun, but too much isn't.
10. No power playing or god modding.

Warm in the day and cool in the mornings and nights. Sometimes it may even rain. Mares are in heat and stallions are more aggressive, breeding with their mares and stealing mares from other herds. Mares might even be foaling, a week after this they can be recovered and carry a new foal for the next year

: S u m m e r :
Days are getting longer and nights are shorter. The temperature is rising Mares are still in heat Stallions are still in the search of more mares. There is no more rain and the sun is always shining.

: A u t u m n :
It is starting to get cooler and it might even rain. Mares are rarely in heat at this time. By the end of Autumn some foals may be born

: W i n t e r :
Days are shorter and nights are longer. The temperature is cold and blankets of snow will cover the land. Some foals may be born in the beginning or end of winter. Can be a dangerous time as it is extremely cold and some herds are even wiped out. Stallions rarely fight and mares are never in heat during this time.

The Lands

River & Forrest - The river and Forrest have the most coverage. However it is also a good place for predators to hunt, and there is mostly only ferns and short grass here.

The Valley - The valley is surrounded by mountains and is grassy and holds the best food. Most horses live here or congregate here.

The Cove - The cove is a hard to get to place surrounded by rocks, though the beach has lush green grass growing around it and is a prized place for horses to live.

Water Holes/Lakes/Streams - Water Holes are popular places for wild horses, especially during the summer. Bands will come here to drink, cool off and play in the water and fights may break out here if two bands meet. There are few lakes around though are not as popular and there are a few streams in the valleys and forests.

The Desert - Dry terrain with some things to graze on yet there is little water. Wranglers are sometimes seen here yet bands come anyways.

Ranches- Most of the ranches are quite far from where the wild horses roam but they are there, and occasionally a group of wranglers will leave their ranch in search of wild horses. It is unknown what happens to those captured and brought back to the one of the ranches, but it is wise to stay away.

Bait Traps - Bait traps aren't common, but there are a few set up. They are often near popular locations such as water holes and they are pens that have treats inside them to lure horses in. A human nearby will press a switch when horses step inside to close the gate, trapping them. Horses trapped inside are forced into a trailer and sent away.

Dream is someone who is kind to other horses regardless of their gender, but she tends to be a bit more wary around stallions. If someone is nice to her, then she'll be nice to them back. She's a friendly mare who likes to help others, and while she isn't the most dominant mare around she isn't submissive. She likes to be the lead mare of the herd, but is fine with just being a regular herd mare. If she is the lead mare though, she will do her best to lead to herd.
History:
Dream was born at a stable that was located near a stable that specialized in thoroughbred horses. The one she was at specialized in Friesians. One day, one of the thoroughbred stables top racing horses somehow got loose and he ended up at the other stable. There he met Dream's mother, and the two had a foal. They were quickly found and the two horses were separated. Dream was unwanted, she was an accident and the stable didn't want a half breed. So later on, Dream was sold. She didn't stay in her new home for long, she didn't like this new place too well and she wanted to get out of there. So when someone opened the gate, she pushed right past the human and used her speed to escape into the wild. She ran and ran, and eventually ended up on the range where the wild horses thrived.

He is often kind, really only being mean if you give him a reason to be. He tends to be a bit more hostile towards other stallions when he has a band of his own, and he won't tolerate any males who come close and try to steal a mare. He is usually calm and hard to spook. While he is usually kind he won't hesitate to be harsh, he isn't afraid to snake a mare. When it comes to mares he won't force them into anything, the only exception is if they don't join him or try to leave him. At that point he'll snake, but he won't force a mare to carry his foal or do something else that they mare not want to join.
History:
The first two years of his life weren't anything too interesting. His herd did run into trouble every now and then, but he had a rather normal first two years. When he turned two he left on his own accord, his parents wanted him to stay but he wanted to go off on his own rather than stay with his birth herd for another year or two.

Faith is a gentle and despite being young she is motherly mare who loves to help and be around foals. She is respectful and rarely mean, but if you get on her nerves she will eventually snap at you. When it comes to stallions she will be nice as long as they are kind to her, but if the stallion is mean and disrespectful then she will ignore him. She can be quite lazy, sometimes wanting to just take a nap instead of moving somewhere and she isn't very playful despite her love for foals.
History:
Faith was raised in a large herd and she lived happily there with the other mares and her other siblings. However, a few days after her birth her father died. Her father injured his leg while defending his herd from wolves, over time it just didn't heal right and he ended up passing away. When he died, a stallion named Jinx took his place.. Faith and her mother lived with this new stallion for a little over a year until the stallion suddenly disappeared. Faith, her mother, and her little sister Asuna who was only a few months old at the time separated from the others. It was winter when they left the band, and Faith's mother was sick. They were found by Kiyro who took them in, but Faith's mother died shortly after. Faith grew upset and stayed with Kiyro while her sister went with a different band as she was still nursing and Kiyro's band did not have a mare who could take care of her, but fortunately another herd did and willingly took in Asuna. Faith stayed with Kiyro's band for several months, but one day the stallion just disappeared

History:
Asuna was born in a nice herd that consisted of her sire, dam, sister and two other mares. However when Winter came her sire died, and Hope, Faith and Asuna were alone. The three traveled together and found a herd, but their mother, Hope grew ill and passed away. Asuna was brought to a different herd and nurses from a mare. When she was a yearling the stallion of that herd was struck by lightning and the mares separated. Asuna was found by a stallion and stayed with him until Ace managed to snake her, two other mares, and a filly away. She was covered by Ace and lived happily with him and his mares along with their two fillies. However bachelors raided the band, her stallion was killed during the fight and his mares snaked away.

He is loyal and like his name suggests, prideful. He doesn't like to underestimated and he doesn't want to appear weak in front of others. He thinks he can do everything by himself, if someone offers to help him he will just refuse. He hates to lose, and tends to be a bit reckless when fighting which normally causes him to return from the fight with injuries he could have avoided. He does not respond well to aggression, if a mare or stallion acts aggressively towards him he finds it hard to trust them. Pride is a stallion who is kind as long as you didn't get on his nerves. He used to be hot headed, easy to anger and would snap at anyone who would get in his way. Though ever since he has met Cerberus and Gold he's changed a bit. He's become calmer and less forceful than he used to be. He still is a bit hot headed, if you say the right thing he will snap, it's just he's been harder to anger than he used to be. He's serious, and usually quiet. He's hardworking and is rarely seen relaxing, when he has a herd he seems to always be busy with something. He does what he believes is right for his family and he cares more about their health than his own.
History:
Pride was born in a normal sized herd, his father was a powerful stallion and his mother was the lead mare of the band. When he was two, he was going to be kicked from his herd but wasn't as wranglers came. These men were not allowed to come and roundup these horses, but they did it anyways. They would catch horses and sell them. His herd was targeted, the horses were rounded up and shoved into a cramp trailer. Days passed, and one by one the horses in the herd were sold. Pride, was lucky however. He was sold to a ranch and the workers there were kind. It was rough, but they managed to train Pride. He missed the wild life, but he didn't hate being a tame horse. He lived there for a few years, but one summer day the barn went up in flames. It was chaotic, Pride was released so he could get away from the flames but instead of staying by the barn he ran, too fast for any to catch him at the time. He ran as far as he could, and didn't stop until his legs ached and he could no longer run.

Garry is very kind, he is rarely rude and will really only act aggressive if he or someone he cares about is threatened in any way. He gets nervous easily and sometimes even spooks at the littlest things. Though it doesn't happen too often he sometimes has mood swings, going through a range of emotions in a short amount of time. He's very nice around horses that he likes and is comfortable with, while he tends to be a bit quiet he is more talkative and caring to those he likes. He is gentle and very protective of those he cares about, if someone he cared about was in danger he would even go to extreme measures to protect them.
History:
Garry was born into a small band, though he never made it back to his birth herd. He remembers his mother, and he caught a glimpse of his father but never actually met him. When he and Dream were returning to the herd they were attacked by a stallion. Warrior managed to get to them in time and he tried to bring them both back. Warrior managed to get Dream, but the stallion who attacked them separated them from Garry and took Garry away. Garry was brought to the other stallion's herd and he was raised there. He was a bit of an outcast, the foals would play with him but the mares and the stallion didn't really care about him, even the mare who nursed him. Eventually the stallion disappeared and the herd split up, leaving Garry by himself.

Lucina is a strong willed and stubborn mare who is very protective of those she cares about. She dislike's death and violence and she tries to avoid it as much as she can, but she will fight if she sees that it is necessary. She is very protective over her half-brother Dusty, as he is the only family she has left and she is willing to do anything in order to just keep him safe. She doesn't trust easy, but to someone she trusts she is obedient and respectful. Though she has a dry sense of humor and it serious most of the time, she is just a filly. She acts childishly from time to time and she loves to play with other horses.
History:
Lucina was born in a rather large herd and she stayed there for about a year until her sire died and she and her dam left. They were found by two young stallions, Sand and his younger brother who took them him, and a few months later Lucina's dam, Devil, gave birth to a colt. They stayed with the young stallions for a bit but when her brother Dusty was about six months old, their dam grew ill and died. Eventually Sand and his brother disappeared, leaving Lucina and Dusty to fend for themselves.

If you're nice to him he'll be nice to you and he tends to be harsh if disrespected or if someone is aggressive towards him.
History:
Natsu was born in an average sized herd, his mother was the lead mare at the time and his father was the band stallion. He was with them for two years, until his father was driven away. He didn't take control of the band, instead he just followed his mother and the rest of the mares. Eventually they were found by Ezra, who Dream accepted and Ezra then became the lead stallion. Ezra tolerated Natsu for a few months, then eventually drove him away.

She likes to alone or near those that she is comfortable with and she hates being in the center of attention. She is very submissive and instead of fighting, she will flee the moment she senses danger. Because of how submissive and quiet she is she tends to be pushed around a lot, but doesn't really do anything about it. It's rare, but there are times where she will stand up for herself.
History:
Olivia was born in a regular herd, there was her mother, father, two other mares and later two fillies, her sisters. She was always quiet, keeping close to her mothers side while her sisters frolicked and played. One day, when she was a yearling, the herd was attacked. A stallion named Pan along with two other males raided them. The young males rounded them up while Pan fought Olivia's father. Her father's herd was snaked away to Pan's other mares, and her father was defeated and killed by Pan.

Despite her age, Nowi can be very childish at times. She acts like a three year old at times, carefree, pestering other horses and doing whatever she wants. She loves to play and run and she hates just standing around and doing nothing but grazing all day. Though she may now seem like it, Nowi is an intelligent young mare who does have a mature side, she just doesn't really show it. She doesn't like it when others are down, and she does whatever she can to cheer them up. She is energetic and never seems to run out of energy. She is incredibly stubborn, if you want to change her mind about something, good luck. Others tend to underestimate her due to her childish behavior and her height, which she hates as she is stronger than most think she is. She is a caring mare and her worst fear is being alone. She hates being by herself, she wants to be surrounded by those she loves and cares about, not wandering around by herself.
History:
Average life for a wild horse, when she was old enough to leave the band she was born in, the lead mare chased away and she was taken in by a stallion. She didn't particularly like the stallion, but it's not like she could have gotten away from him. She stayed with him for two years, seperating when he died in the winter. In the spring, she was playing by herself in the water hole when a pretty black mare came by. This was Mew, who became friends with Nowi. The two played together and started a game of tag, and that's when they ran into him. During their game, they found a stallion, Tidal. They didn't stop their game just because there was a male nearby, instead they played with him. The three played a little game together and became friends, and soon after that they became a herd. Things were going well, but it didn't stay that way forever. An aggressive stallion came by and stole Nowi, taking her away from her new friends. Nowi hated this stallion, she tried to get away from him several times but he was always watching her, sticking close and never letting her get too far. He was cruel, snapping at the young mare every time she did something that he didn't like. She missed Tidal and Mew, but she hasn't seen them ever since she was snaked away, not even once. Nowi had to endure this stallion for two years, and over time the stallion managed to get a hold of a small of mares. He went of one day to steal a mare from a younger band stallion, and when he wasn't paying attention, Nowi bolted. The stallion realized what Nowi was doing and he gave chase, trying to catch up and bring her back but he was too late. He was too far away to be able to catch up, he chased Nowi down for some time but the mare managed to slip away.

Akuma is a bold stallion with a lot of pride, he would never admit defeat in a fight, even when he has lost. He is strict and impatient, he has a quick temper and even the littlest things will set him off. He is dominant and aggressive, very pushy and harsh on his mares if they try to go against him or if he doesn't approve of what they are doing. He doesn't view mares as horses, but sees them as trophies. He thinks that he is the best and most powerful stallion, and he wants a large herd as well as many foals that would spread his bloodline. He will act okay towards mares who do what he say, but strict to those who don't. He's very quiet, rarely speaking unless he feels he has the need to and he will not tolerate any male going anywhere near his mares, the only one he is fine with at the moment is Riku.
History:
Akuma was not born in the wild, he was born on a well known stud farm. He was an accident, a stud was left with a mare by accident and Akuma was the result. The humans were nice to Akuma, but sold him once he was two years old. The humans at his new home were cruel, they beat Akuma for no reason and kept him in a tiny, filthy paddock. He didn't stay there for long, the fence was old and not very sturdy, so all that Akuma had to do was break it down and he was free. He escaped to the wild, and joined a group of bachelors, and when he was six he gained a small band of mares. He kept those mares, but lost them all last year when a group of experienced bachelors came and drove him away. He returned to the bachelor band and reunited with his son, Riku. He's using Riku now to help him with a herd, but once Akuma sees that Riku is no longer needed he will drive him out.

He is stubborn and likes to mess with others but it submissive to his father and he wouldn't go against Akuma.
History:
Riku had an average life, he was born in the wild and quickly driven out of his band once he turned two. He joined the bachelors and hung out with them for several years, though when his father lost his herd, he joined Akuma and is now trying to help him.

Moon's rather timid and shy. If it was a flight or fight situation, Moon would flee. She knows her friends Allayo and Doe think of her as a foal, someone who needs protection but doesn't mind. She knows they only want to help. And frankly, Moon needs it.

History:

As a yearling, a terrifying stallion snaked Moon. The encounter terrified her and she wanted nothing to do with him. Eventually though, he dissapeared and she joined a new herd, Gator's. But she only joined after a long chase which ended with Moon's hoof getting hurt when she tripped. She also met Doe and Allayo that day.

She tends to stay away from other horses because of the stories her mother told her when she was a foal about wild horses. She didn't believe them at the time, but witnessing fights between stallions, she knows what her mother meant. She always has hope for survival and that one day she will be "heroically" rescued.
History: Hope was born on a ranch. She was always adventurous and when the gate was left open, she left. She barely survived, living off whatever vegetation she could find and water. She avoided dangers and now knows what to expect in the wild.

Personality: Whisper is outgoing, but she is also shy. She doesn't like meeting new horses a lot and feels uncomfortable around others, since she is on her own. She likes to wander off and go on mini-adventures. She normally stays in the open because the trees creep her out and the noises of the forest as well/
History: Whisper was born a loner as her father was trying to start a herd. He had only gotten her mother so far and died before she was born. Once she was born, her and her mother traveled the forest. When her mother died of infection, she felt uncomfortable of staying in the forest because she felt her spirit was still there. She stays near the edge of the woods, to scared to eave her mother's spirit, yet to scared to get to close.

Any horse she has met, she left, partly because she doesn't trust many horses. She normally sneaks around herds to avoid being courted/snaked and the bachelors as well.

She barely survived as a filly, but has some how made it this far. She can't clearly remember her past and has very few memory of her mother.

Personality: Breeze is a strong-willed, playful filly. She is always full of energy and always needs something to do. The filly will sometimes get agitated of her energy is not burned off and will often run around the herd to let it loose. She doesn't realize that Frost will keep her yet because it is in her nature that she would leave the herd at the age of 2.
History: Breeze was born into Pride's herd. When the lead mare, Page decided to move the herd, she and her mother were left behind due to the fact that she could not keep up. While the two stayed there, Frost came and snaked them into his herd. Then Electric and her mother were snaked into the herd and she found a new playmate. She has strayed far from the herd and has been snaked back, but only once.
