The mare nodded, before neighing, "Well nice to meet you Memory, they call me The Black Devil, but you can call me Devil". The mare shook her mane again and smiled slightly.

Memory let a smile creep across his muzzle and his ears went erect as he heard hooves in the distance. Soft, too soft to be a mare's, too small to be a stallion's. Suddenly he knew exactly what it was. "You hear that?" he mumbled under his breath, his mane blowing back in the wind as he slowly trotted towards the sound.

The mare's ears went erect. "Yes, yes I do" she nickered and reared up gently before landing her hooves with a small thud. She listened to the soft hooves.

Memory cocked his head as his ears twisted, trying to listen to where the sound was coming from. He turned over to the mare and beckoned her over, before trotting towards where he thought the sound was. It was coming closer so he knew he had got it right; curiously, he increased his speed.

Devil followed closely, looking around every once and awhile. Her ears went erect as Memory quickened his pace. "Mm, sounds like a foal, but I can't be sure, could be a mountain lion" she nickered.

Memory heard a gentle whinny, and he skidded to a halt, looking back at the teasing mare. "Yup. It's a mountain lion; a mountain lion that whinnies just like a foal." he nickered sarcastically, grinning cheekily as he continued to canter towards the sound.

The mare snorted and started to canter beside the stallion. "If we're lucky, we'll actually run into a mountain lion and I can show you I'm made of!" she whinnied, rearing up and galloping ahead of him.
