I thought, for sure, you would see this secret.

The Female Hunter
- Visually, she is a distinct wolf, with a sleek face and long, pointed ears. Rebekka is slight of build, perhaps an inch or two shorter than your average female, and with a light, wirey figure. She is light on her feet, but lacks the bulk to withstand a lot of damage.
Rebekka's fur is short and close-lying. It only lengthens on her neck and tail, where it creates handsome ruffs and fills out her slim figure. This fur is a rich, orange color with a cream underbelly. Pale blue eyes glint out from Rebekka's fiery-hued coat as the only cool color to be seen on her person. The center of her forehead is graced with a darker spot, like a third eye, and completes her exotic appearance.
Her unusual looks are due to a defect in her pigmentation, allowing only the reds to show and blocking out the shades of black that were written into her genetic code, preventing them from expressing themselves in her appearance. Had the black shades been present in her fur, she would have been a fairly average-looking grey-ish wolf with brown eyes, just like everyone else. Rebekka's blue eyes are more prone to sun damage than another wolf's, and she may find her vision begins to fail her as she ages, but she has enough pigment to at least protect her skin from the sun, and does not run the same level of risk of cancer as a true albino would.
I can hardly stand how much I love you.

- Rebekka is a hard worker, but really only because she has to be. You see, she is a perfectionist. Ironically, that is her largest fault. Rebekka is constantly analyzing everything she does because she believes that her worth is determined by what she can do, and not who she is. Any mistakes, anything less than perfect means that she is not good enough, and because no one can ever be perfect, she is constantly failing. That is why she works so hard. The only way to drown out the voices in her head that tell her all the ways she makes mistakes is to make herself so busy she cannot hear them. The good part is that the pack is well-fed, thanks to her diligence, but the bad part is that Rebekka is miserable, and her self esteem is so fragile that it is constantly threatening to break. Her mate's disinterest in her doesn't exactly do a lot to help her, either.
Of course, by no means does this issue mean that Rebekka is difficult to get along with. A little shy and tense, maybe, but she is extremely loyal. She cares far more for her friends than herself, and will go to any length to help and support them, so she is an excellent friend to have. Her thoughtfulness and sensitivity to the problems of others help her think of small ways to make others feel better when they are having a rough day, and she is an excellent listener. If she would just listen to her own advice half of the time, even, she would be in excellent shape.
So, why can't you see me?

- Three little females were born into the pack, and it was apparent from the beginning that one of them was different. With odd, red fur and blue eyes, this pup was unlike any her parents had ever seen, and it may have been her genetics that turned her into what she is today. Perhaps they expected more of their exotic daughter, or perhaps they thought her a lesser wolf for being different and hoped to encourage her to overcome that, but whatever the case, both parents pushed her constantly to exceed herself, and she did indeed grow to become a powerful hunter, but at a price. Rebekka has internalized her parents' voices, and their quest for perfection haunts her wherever she goes.
That is why it came as somewhat of a relief that her family disappeared altogether. They met their ends, as wolves do, in various ways. One sister ran off with a loner, while another was killed by a fatal snake bite, and her parents grew older and contracted a disease. Without her parents constantly asking her for more than she could give, Rebekka was finally at peace, at least relative peace.
It was about then that it was decided that Rebekka would be paired up with the other hunter, a male, and the two would be mates. At first, she was appalled by the idea, but as she got to know him, she realized what a lucky girl she really was. He seemed perfect for her, and she hoped that one day, he would grow to love her too. Rebekka planned to do all she could to win him over, as doing all she can is her way.
They two were mated, and Rebekka's joy was dampened only by the unattainable goal of this male's heart. He just wasn't interested, and for the life of her she could not figure out how to make him understand that in spite of the arrangement, she really did love him. For awhile, Rebekka had no choice but to be content with the mate of her dreams who did not love her back, but then another female came into the picture. To her horror, Rebekka found that her mate actually seemed to like her, and it shattered her.
Her mind raced frantically, trying to figure out why this female was so perfect, what she did that was better than Rebekka. She struggled over it, and still has yet to come up with an answer. The unfairness of it all gets to her sometimes, since she works so very hard trying to be a good mate, only to have none of it appreciated, but she has not given up hope. Regardless of anyone's feelings, he is her mate and no one else's. All she has to do is make him want that too.
What can she do that I can't?
