As he scented the air in search for Wisp he saw yet another trap, though this one didn't have anything in it. He sniffed at it, wondering if there was a way that he could spring it so it couldn't trap anything. "I'll come back later." he said to himself as he turned around and began heading towards camp again. He saw camp just ahead and looked around for Wisp, though he didn't see her. He then heard her panicked bark as she called his name then felt someone careen into him. He fell to the ground with a hard thump and looked up at Wisp with wide and worried eyes. "Wisp, are you ok? Are you hurt? What's wrong?" he questioned her.

He slowly nodded as he listened to Whisky, though stopped when he heard the end of what she had to say. "You care for me?" he asked her then shook his head. "But, we've only just met. We've only talked one other time. I mean, you know nothing about me." he told her in disbelief. He couldn't believe his ears but, he felt a connection with her too and he couldn't describe it. He wanted to stay with her but, she was a pack dog and he was just an injured loner.

He stopped as Brid did and looked up at her, unsure of how she was going to answer. He gave a small smile, finding the surprise in her voice somewhat amusing as he sat down. He then smiled as she nuzzled him and listened to what she had to say. He sighed then nodded to her. "Thank you." he told her and stood back up. He looked at Brid, knowing it was now or never. "I have another question for you too." he told her, wagging his tail slightly. "Will you be my mate?" he asked her. He knew he loved her, more than anyone he had known before and if what it felt like to have a mate felt the same as when he was with Brid, then he should have asked her a long time ago.

Really?" She jumped up, a grin grown on her face. "Yes, Axel. I will." She said, happily nuzzling him on the cheek.

He tilted his head curiously as he looked at Wisp. "Footsteps?" he repeated to himself before rolling over and jumping to his paws then taking off after the fea. "Wisp!" he called after her then skidded to a stop as she stopped in camp."Axel is out of camp with Brid." he told her, pointing his nose towards the direction in which they left. "Whose footsteps were they? A dogs? A humans?" he asked her.

He gave a small laugh and nodded "Yes, really." he told her then wagged his tail as he heard her answer. He smiled happily and nuzzled Brid back as she nuzzled his cheek. He turned his head and licked her muzzle before pressing close to her. "I love you, Brid." he told her softly. He had never been so near to her before but, it was nice. It felt comforting and right, like it was just meant to be and he truly believed that it was.

Brid cracked into a large grin, wagging her tail. This was certainly one of the most happiest moments in her life. Her brown eyes glittered with excitement, "I love you too, Axel." She said gently, the words rolling perfectly off her tongue. It was so sudden, but it felt so right.
