I how my head to him in thanks for his belief in me but I still didn't think I could lead such a herd. I shake my mane, a smile on my face, looking over the herd. It would be nice to lead but I didn't feel like I could. I may speak it over with the Lead Mare later but not now.

My stomach rumbles in hunger as I sigh, "Will this winter ever end? I'm starving. And these stupid things of grass are doing nothing for me." I say, pawing at the ground, revealing small patches of dead grass. I rip them up with my teeth weakly, trying to satisfy my large hunger.

I stand by my mare, snorting as a bachelor trots by. I paw at the ground with a large hoof, he could only be three or four, competing with a eight year old would be a bad decision for him and he knew it. He was semi large, making him look older but the way he held himself and the way he looked at my mare. I snort, telling him to leave. He stands, watching her with hate in his eyes, even if he tried, he wouldn't get her. I step forward, rearing, telling him to leave and I meant NOW.
