My smile widens as he speaks. I stand close to him, warming us both. My eyes look to my daughter, who was full grown, now. She trots over, nuzzling me and her father then trots off again. I look to Early, "I don't know about being lead, Early. I'm not that good of a leader. More of a follower, ya' know?" I say to him, looking at Sasha. My mane shakes as a shiver runs down my back. "Stupid winter.." I mumble, stepping closer to him for warmth.

Early tries to keep her warm. He never minded the cold. "Paint, I think you'll be a great leader though." He says. "But it is your choice, and I'm not going to force you." He says and nuzzles her.

Comanche snorted, tossing his head. He was in the mood for food. But food is not something you can get in winter. It is scarce, in which causes a lot of horses to die off early. He pawed at the snow, the white stuff starting to fall. He pinned his ears at a few stallions and their mares, but Comanche knew he could not afford to lose anymore weight just to keep mares alive right now. His enchanting brown eyes watched one stallion, the way he treated his mares with respect. Mares were meant to be kept to keep the stud`s foals. Nothing more. Nothing less.


Pioneer snorted, her ears pinned against her head as she trudged through the snow. She was pregnant. With Comanche`s foal. It was a mishab of course, bit it affected her life quite a bit. She shook her head, reaching around to nudge her very swollen belly before whinnying. She needed a herd. And she needed food. And fast.
