Riptide -
The appaloosa stallion finally emerged from the thick forest. Earlier he had notice Byakugan scold him for being careless picking his paths, and now he regretted obeying her, feeling a slight sting in his knee from the prickle bush, but it was easily ignorable. He stopped for a minute, looking around, seeing nothing. The smell of salt water and the ocean breeze was close by, so he decided to head for the beach. He trotted lazily, still paying no attention to where he was going of what he was doing. It wasn't until he was almost right in front of her, a mare quickly got his attention. He jerked his head up and halted short, whinnying excitedly in greeting. He figured all mares would be like Byakugan; accepting him quickly in his excitement. But this mare could be different.

[size85]Eyes falling back upon the little mare he dipped his head and repeated softly, "Pond." His attention was drawn away from Pond to Citrus once more as she moved. She seemed unsure to him and he was puzzled by how these mares were acting, finding their uncomfort towards each other uncalled for. Thrane took a step closer towards Citrus as she pulled away, ears tilted back towards Pond. "You do not need to go" he said simply, his voice deep and rolling. He wished not to upset either mare, but he also did not want them to feel that they needed to leave.[/size]

--- Stopping a moment as he spoke to her, Citrus allowed herself to stop trying to be forward and act a little more like herself. "No, I don't need to go. But I would rather that then upset Pond. She seems uneasy with my presence and I would like to avoid any sort of conflict, verbal or physical." Citrus gently touched his shoulder in gratitude, "I appreciate meeting both you and Pond. Other than Toby, you are the first contact I've had with my own kind since a long time." Citrus knew she needed to find a herd and deep down, she had foolishly believed her place would be with Thrane and Pond. But alas, the other female did not appreciate her being there and so Citrus, being the last to join the group guessed that she would have to be the one to leave.

Pond nodded once. She neighed to Citrus. "I do feel strange around you." And then again. "I.. just.." She struggled to find the right words. "I don't want you to leave because of me." She finished. She looked down and backed up some more. She waited for Thrane or Citrus to speak.

Lilac
Lilac glanced at the darkening sky, and quickly grabbed by filly and pulled her, with Fire deep into the herd. Storm didn't protest, but gladly backed up and hid in the mass of mares. She whinnied to Lass, warning her of night, and then looked down at her filly to make sure she was still there.

Verity
Verity whinnied in surprise as a stallion appeared. She backed up, away from him, scared. After her former stallin Natsu was hit by lightning, and Daisy attacked her and blinded her in one eye, blurring the other, she was frightened of others.

A fair palomino sabino mare plods across a rocky out crop, just a few steps above the rest of her herd. The whethered 8 year old stood proudly, with her dainty, battle scarred face raised high as she scented the surroundings. Despite a few large scars on her belly, her pregnancy seemed to have continued normally. She had swelled greatly, and it was evident that her foal would be due any day now.

Riptide noticed the mare's sudden fear, and his ears pricked in confusion. This isn't how Byakugan had reacted to him... The young stallion decided she might be different; but he was still rather eager. Without thinking, he high stepped towards her, nickering. But the way the frightened mare's ears flicked back and forth made him stop short. Was she telling him something? Her eyes were wide, like she was trying to see through darkness. He shook his coat, and went toward her again; agitated and excited. Suddenly, he sniffed. This mares scent was awfully familiar. He'd seen her before somewhere. The more he watched her, the more her picture became clear in his mind. When he was a young foal, his mother had accepted a stallion and they were in a herd of three mares - counting his own mother. A stallion named Natsu. A mare named Daisy. Another mare named Vertify... He knew her. He nickered, this time more softly, saying it was okay. He remembered Daisy and Vertify fighting, the poor mare being injured badly in the eye. Gently he touched her nose, his warm breath on hers, and he nickered.

Lilac
Lilac looked up to see Daisy. She wondered where she got her scars. In a fight with another mare? Lilac hadn't seen her fight with any mares of the herd. Storm stayed close to her legs, and Lilac reached down to nuzzle her.

The large mare heaved a sigh and began stepping lightly down the rocky hill towards her herd once more. Her plodding is heavy under the weight of the foal she is soon to bear. Skidding down the hill, her belly sways beneth her. At it's impass, she raises her head and lays a dark eyed gaze upon her sister mare Lilac and her foal, Storm. Daisy loosened and nickered lightly to the bay appaloosa, she knew little of any of the others in her herd. Aside from their stallion of course. She took a few paces closer, remaining aware incase Lilac became protective of her foal.
