{Assassin}

Assassin slowly made his way through the thick grass, ears pricked. Was there any hunters around? He wasn't sure, but he wasn't going to take the chance. The large cheetah flattened his ears and tasted the air, eyes narrowed as he looked around. He didn't see any unusual sightings except for African animals and African surroundings, so it must be clear. He flicked his tail and slowly itched forward, looking at a small herd of wildebeest near a large river. He slowly walked forward, eyes glittering.

{Lola}

Lola looked from the trees of the forest and huffed. She flicked her spotted tail and lowered herself down, watching the wildebeest near the large river. Hunger gnawed her belly, but she didn't dare move from the large tree that towered over the river. Hunters.. she shivered at the name of it. Hunters could be around, and she knew that hunters loved the spotted fur of a leopard. She only watched the wildebeest as they tried crossing the waterway. But most didn't make it from crocodiles.

{Sorry for not replying sooner, busy with New Years and such.}

__________Morianna________
        If people were rain, I'd be drizzle and she'd be a hurricane.
      --------------The golden fur of Morianna was hard to spot in the long grass, the same shade as her pelt. It was even harder for the herd of wildebeest. She was downwind from them, biding her time as they braved the water of the river ahead of them. She was waiting for the right moment to strike, her eyes fixed on the rump of an older cow, her movements giving away the bad arthritis in her hips. Her golden eyes narrowed, and the female dashed from the cover, sprinting the short distance to the back of the herd. A flying leap and she was clinging to the back of her chosen prey while the herd scattered, stampeding towards the water and the hungry crocodiles that waited underneath it's surface. Her face contorted into a wry grin as she grappled for a hold, inching her way up the spine and sinking her teeth into the fourth and fifth vertebrae. A bellowing pain from the cow signaled her impending demise, while Morianna's ears flattened. She hoped that the sound hadn't carried very far, she couldn't hold onto this kill against a bigger predator. Her long back legs scrabbled for purchase against the hide of the wildebeest, just barely missing the flinty hooves of the creature. She heard a loud, satisfying 'crack' as the wildebeest's spine snapped.

      -------Morianna untangled herself from the freshly-dead wildebeest, the old cow would have tough but manageable meat and hopefully Morianna would be able to wolf down a decent meal before scavengers decided to relieve her of her kill. The female looked over her shoulder before hunkering down, chewing through the thick hide to get at the warm meat.

__________Sikare________
        I'm not saying that everything is suvivable.
        Just that everything except the last thing is.
      --------------Sikare lounged in camp, his thick fur rustling in the slighty breeze. It was hot today so the male was trying hard to stay cool, his mouth open and tongue lolling out a dead giveaway. His head perked up as he heard the dying roar of a wildebeest, perhaps he would send out some hunters to try and take the kill from whatever had brought it down. Then he thought of hunters, and reconsidered. The pride was well-fed, it wasn't worth risking lives for something they didn't need.

{Assassin}

Assassin narrowed his eyes as he saw the wildebeest were scattering. Something had scared them, or attacked at least one of their herd members. He hesitated as he stopped prowling. It was probably a predator, and since Assassin wasn't much social, he hated to be around others. He liked the quiet, and the quiet was his domain. He snorted to himself and realized it wasn't worth the time to go check out what had attacked the herd.

He turned and pricked his ears as he heard crunching. He hissed softly but realized it was just some hares running through the grass. He growled to himself and stalked away from the river. He watched as the hares ran but vanished into their burrows. He walked along through the tall, golden grass and looked around. No signs of lions.. no signs of anything really. Maybe a lot of the herds went near the river, for that's where a lot of animals went this time of year, mostly predators.

He paused and looked forward, seeing a large boulder jutting from the plains. He trotted over and jumped on it, using his claws to dig into the cracks and pull himself up. It was a large patch of boulders, that plainly were scattered around the area. He settled himself slowly down on one large boulder, viewing the plains.

__________Morianna________
        If people were rain, I'd be drizzle and she'd be a hurricane.
      --------------Morianna looked up from her kill, blood dripping from her muzzle. She'd gorged on the wildebeest with one ear tuned to the noises around her, and something had spooked the female. A twig cracked and she raised her head, muscles quivering. Something was wrong. The glint of metal gave the poachers away a second before the shot, and a vital second it was. Morianna put on a burst of speed away from her kill, the bullet branding a path of fire through her right shoulder and singing the fur there a blackish tone. She ignored the pain in favor of staying alive, and as another shot rang out she headed grimly for the river crossing - she had no other choice. The female slogged through the brackish water without looking back, the crocs must've been full of wildebeest because she made it to the other side. A third shot landed by her back paws and she was running again, making a beeline for the only cover she could find - an outcropping of large boulders.

      -------The bedraggled, sopping-wet female found herself staring wide-eyed at another of her kind, a male, but she was too caught up in ahem, staying alive to focus on him. Instead she sidled down next to him, flattening herself to the boulder in an attempt to camouflage herself. She shot a glance to the male, but he was the least of her problems. At least she could worry about him clawing her fur off later, after the hunters were gone.

{Assassin}

Assassin was looking at a herd of zebras that was crossing the plains when he heard a boom ring out from near the river. He jumped to his paws as the zebras rose on their hind-legs, scattering from the noise. The male cheetah looked around, alert, as birds flew up into the sky from the shot. Assassin saw the metal of one of the hunter's transportation near the river. He saw the wildebeest were running into the water way or running back into the long grass.

Assassin noticed something was running from the bank, and he could see glimmers following behind the moving animal. He flattened his ears and thought, hunters, no doubt. He was tense, ready to flee if any hunters came in their transportation machines over near the boulders. Assassin knew that the hunters were defenseless without their weapons, but with them, it was a life and death situation for all animals.

Assassin paused as he noticed the animal had ran over near the boulders. But he was too focused in trying to see where the hunters were exactly to notice the animal who seemed to crouch down. Finally, he snapped out of his fearful trance and looked over his shoulder. No doubt, there was an animal near him. A cheetah, and a female, for that case.

Assassin lost his footing on the boulder, in surprise to see the female cheetah suddenly appear, and fell off the rock, landing in the long grass underneath it. Luckily, he didn't break any bones, since the boulders weren't as high. He let out a grunt as he fell into a patch of ferns.

__________Morianna________
        If people were rain, I'd be drizzle and she'd be a hurricane.
      --------------In the second it took for Morianna to search the area for the glimmer of hunter's guns and look back for the male, he was gone. It took her a few seconds to figure out how he'd disappeared, but when she did a flicker of a smile ghosted across her face and made her golden eyes light up with mischief before a more serious tone to her gaze returned. "Umm... are you alright?" she asked, ducking as another shot whizzed by her ear. These hunters just weren't giving up.

{Assassin}

Assassin lifted his head up, spitting out grass. He got to his paws and did an annoyed hiss. He shook his coat and heard the female. Assassin flicked his tail before replying, "yes, I'm fine." He had been in a good mood today, so he kept the rudeness from his voice. He leaned over as a bullet struck the boulder except for his head. He huffed and looked over near the river where the bullet seemed to whiz from.

__________Morianna________
        If people were rain, I'd be drizzle and she'd be a hurricane.
      --------------Morianna's brow wrinkled at his hiss, the tone was laced with annoyance. "Sheesh. Grumpy much?" the female replied, not really expecting an answer. However, while the hunters were keeping both cheetahs in their current positions, she felt it was best they play nice. The bullets seemed to stop for a moment, so she took a chance and leapt down to stand next to the male, her fur just brushing his before she pulled away, careful to keep her distance. She didn't want to be too close to anyone, least of all this male. Though she couldn't deny he wasn't handsome, she was not looking for a mate at the moment and it was obvious he wasn't looking for one either. Still, she couldn't help but notice his thick fur, no doubt hiding a well-muscled build.

      The female crouched as another bullet hit the rock, leaving a dent. She winced, and turned to the male.

      "I'm Morianna, by the way. But maybe we should skip the rest of the pleasantries and focus on getting out of here with our pelts still attached to us. Perhaps that way?" she said, pointing with her tail to a copse of tall, golden grass. If they could sneak through the few feet of open space and make it to the grass, the savannah would stretch out after that, golden and glorious and free of hunters and their guns.

{Assassin}

Assassin flicked his ears as she jumped down. He sighed silently to himself. Well, a nice way to start a day, almost getting his head blown off by a some bullets. Assassin looked at her before confirming he shouldn't be sharp-tongued, since if he walked off with a head held high, he might be laying on the ground dead from the hunters. He forced himself to have a calm look, even though he wanted to angrily rip apart something. His day was going well until all this happened. He shuffled his paws before replying, as polite as he could muster, "well, I'm Assassin. And yes, let's go that way before we find ourselves on the ground, dead." He tried to keep the sharpness from his tone as he said the last part.

Assassin looked over at where the bullets were coming from as another whizzed by his flank. If they didn't have their weapons.. he flexed his claws at the thought of going over there and slicing them apart. But of course, that seemed out of the odds at the moment. Right now, they just had to focus getting out from that area alive.
