"Zero." He replied with a smile. Zero finished his food in another few bites and decided to open up a little to Jerry. He was desperate to talk with someone despite keeping his cool, outside demeanor. Besides, he was still worried that the pup may not be comfortable around him. Zero continued: "I was the runt of my litter, so all my brothers and sisters teased me by saying I was nothing... "a zero." But I learned to accept the name. Look at me now, after all. I'm like a hunter, eh?"

"That's so mean," Jerry murmured in reply. "I had two sisters, kind of bossy sometimes, but they were always kind to me. I wish you could have had littermates like them." Then, with a smile, he added, "But you're right. You are a hunter, and a good one at that." He gave a slight wag of his tail. As much as the Klee Kai spent time on his own, he had to admit that it felt good to finally have someone to talk to.

Belle trotted happily over to Malaila and sniffed the tantalizing bad. Peeking in, she saw the same meal Malaila did. "Look, see? We got us some food. We're gonna make it, Malaila." Belle wagged her stump-tail furiously and sat down, licking her chops. She puffed her chest out, knowing she had been proven right. She looked at Malaila slyly from the corner of her eye. "Told you so," she gloated happily.

Normally, Belle's gloating would have irritated Malaila, but now she didn't mind as much, she pulled out the chips container and nudged it over for her companion, and kept the half cheeseburger for herself, "hope you don't mind" she smiled and wagged her tail, "well, you were right, maybe we will be okay"

Belle wagged her tail and gratefully accepted the meal. She savored her food, licking the salt out of the box when it was empty. Her stomach wasn't filled, but it was fuller than it had been in a long time. She licked her lips and stretched out. Glad for a new companion and a meal.

Malaila snatched up the burger in less than a second, then turned to smile at Belle, "what should we do now?" she wondered aloud and sniffed at the cheesy wrapper, debating whether to keep if for sleeping on or rip it to pieces, "we could look for shelter" she suggested, looking up at the sky.

Belle yawner and snapped her mouth shut with an audible click. She stood up and looked around, spying what appeared to be a squirrel just on the edge of a dry, dead bush. She dropped to a crouch, her belly fur dragging the ground. "I'm gonna catch that squirrel," she whispered. She stalked forward slowly, her eyes never leaving the fuzzy target. Once she was within range, she leaped and snapped her jaws shut on her prey.

((There, Belle thought Mala's tail was a squirrel, Mackenzie))

Malaila watched in confusion as Belle crouched and pounced, she didn't smell no squirrels but when she turned and saw the fluffy thing behind the bush she got it. "That's not-" she began but it was too late, she'd done it. Not realizing it was a tail, Malaila just laughed it off but she had another surprise coming.
