~Background~
I was born in the area surrounding Salmon River. I was the first cub my mother ever bore and sadly the only. We spent most of our time avoiding other bears due to my pale coat. My mother feared that others would try to harm me due to my differences. My mother taught me the different herbs and barks of the forest. She taught me how they could be used to heal wounds or sickness. All while teaching me to survive a world that may not except me. I was not an easy student. I was always getting into trouble. It was that finesse for trouble that would cost me my dearest treasure. My mother had decided to fish in a remote part of the river. I snuck to the rivers edge even though my mother told me to stay behind the tree line. I wanted to prove that I could catch my own fish... that I didn't need her anymore. Apparently a hunter saw my coat and wanted it for a prize. I was too focus on catching my food to notice he was there. Then my mother noticed me and then smelled the hunter. She yelled for me to run. At first I was confused, but then I caught his scent. I scrambled for the trees and a shot rang out. Once in the safety of the trees I looked back to see my mother's body on the banks where I had been. She had charged the hunter and he had shot her. I watched as she was surrounded by men all celebrating her death. I couldn't look any longer and I ran deep into the forest... away from what I could not undo. For days I grieved in the den I had shared with my mother. Once my hunger was too much I went out and gathered some food. I knew that my mother would want me to survive and I would not fail her. It was hard for me to survive being as young as I was, but I used the skills my mother taught me. Now I have chosen to unite with the other bears of Salmon River to protect the only home I have ever know. It is where my mother's spirit resides and I will protect it to my last breathe.
~Family~
I never knew my father as is the case with most of our kind. My mother was a great bear in both presence and spirit. Her name was Enora. She had an auburn coat and the same soft amber eyes that I possess. I have no siblings due to my mothers early passing.
