Duncan is a cruel and merciless male. His main focus is on strength and power, looking down on those who are weaker than him. He has a very sarcastic sense of humor and is rarely kind to others. If he is generous, it's only because he thinks it can somehow benefit him. He's very selfish and has no concern for other lions, especially lionesses. Blaming his mother for the way he was brought up, he has learned to believe that all females are stupid and only exist to make his pride stronger. Despite being a very talented fighter, he is cocky and arrogant. Most are able to put up with him because of his skills, or just don't disrespect Duncan because they're afraid of him. Because he often picks on those weaker than him, he's generally disliked, but he doesn't care. Duncan is power-hungry and often takes advantage of others no matter who he hurts. He is extremely ambitious and will stop at nothing to achieve his goal.

Duncan's mother mated with a male outside of the pride, so when he was born, his mother ran away with him. Otherwise, the pride male would have killed them both. She struggled to raise him on her own. They didn't always have food or shelter, but they managed to stay alive. When Duncan was almost two years old, he woke up to see his mother fighting with a male. It was the male from her previous pride, furious that she mated with another male and then left. He ran out to confront the male and protect his mother, but she was killed before he could reach her. The least he could do was take the male by surprise and kill him. Because he was nearly an adult and his mother had already taught him everything, he was able to fend for himself. Ever since his mother's death, he has been traveling on his own, not really knowing what to search for. His time alone and the death of his mother caused him to be cruel and cold-hearted. However, now he wants a pride of his own, and he wants it to be the most powerful pride in the land.

Lost in thought, Ziwa didn't hear the approach of the male until his voice rang in her ears like thunder across the barren plains. Startled, she scrambled up from her position on her back and took a few steps away, ears returning to their flattened state. The younger lionesses pale gaze landed hastily on the form of the male. Even though he had greeted them without hostility, she had no reason to trust this.. nomad? Pride male? Whatever he was. Unsure of what to do, Ziwa cast a pleading glance at Tara and hoped that the older lioness could give some guidance.

The feathered creature of the crow family was quite relieved when the feline below did eventually trot off in a direction that held what the piapiac was happy to see. Trees that would actually provide shade in the almost unbearable heat! Letting out what seemed like a river of joyful squawks and caws Upesi descended at a fairly quick pace until he was able to grasp a leafy branch in his claws. Leaning down, the young bird would come to watch the lioness below with his usual curiosity now that the heat wasn't constantly, or at least as strongly as it had been, beating down on him. She seemed to be uneasy, unsettled by another lion maybe? Huffing, he cawed in her direction. From his perch Upesi couldn't spot what had set the lioness off.

M a l e • L o n e r

The scent of a fresh kill filled Duncan's nose. Judging by how strong the smell was, the prey wasn't very far away. He decided to spy on the kill, and maybe if the predator was smaller than he was, he could take the kill for himself. Turning around, he began following the scent. If there were any bushes, he could hide behind those and spy on the predator. If not, then he figured walking away if he was caught would suffice. As he got closer and the smell got stronger, he also recognized the scent of a lioness. Maybe I can take her for my pride, he thought with a grin. He'd at least be taking her food. Increasing his pace, he was now approaching the lioness and her kill.

The young female rolled her eyes at the other male, not impressed by his 'trying to be charming' hello to the two lionesses. "Whoever decides to join the thing he calls a pride will be starving and weak within days. I mean, look at him. He can't even face an older male with courage." Talutah huffed to herself, turning away from the lion and followed Samael, marking spots of dirt and bushes along the way. "That male won't keep a pride for long. I guarantee you his lionesses would be killed within a week." She murmured to the older male, headbutting him in the shoulder.
