♡ Sasha showed a faint smile as she saw Gryphon show one too. She realised the pup was trying to act like she was happy, so Sasha decided not to bring up the fact Gryphon was crying in case the pup wouldn't want her to know. She sat down and curled her tail around her front paws, tilting her head slightly as she observed the sad pup. "Hey Gryphon, I didn't know you were here," said Sasha, in a neutral tone. "I was just having fun by the trash bags over there, but then I heard the wolves and decided I was too close to them. So I came over here," she said, swivelling her ears as she tried to detect if there were any wolves still around. The howling had more or less stopped but she didn't know for sure because she hadn't actually seen the scene.

After his snack, Kodiak heaved himself to his paws. He trekked up a large pile of trash and stood at the top, looking over their camp. The wind whipped in his fur, causing him to squint his eyes. He loved it. He felt like the king of the world, and nothing was wrong. But he knew that the second he got down, reality would return. He would be reminded of how filthy he was, and how starving. The brute jumped down the pile, landing on his side. He rolled and got to his feet. The Husky then padded off into the woods. He came across a rather deep lake, and lowered himself into the water. He splashed around until the filth was removed from his coat. He was shiny and clean, as if he was a new dog. As if he was starting over. He got out and shook off his dense cat, water spraying in every direction. He used his paws to smooth down his fur, and looked at his reflection int the lake. For once, he actually looked presentable. Satisfied, Kodiak made his way back to camp.

Bambi whined. The tiny pup was terrified. She fled back to her den, curling into a tight ball in the very back. She shivered and whimpered for company.

"I saw the wolves too. I just wish I hadn't. They bring back painful memories of my past...." Gryphon's voice trailed off. She turned back to Sasha. "Those wolves killed my parents, Sasha. That's why I was crying." Tears flooded down Gryphon's face once more and she buried her face into her small cream and white, fluffy tail.

♡ Sasha's eyes filled with tears, as she stared sadly at the poor pup who was clearly devastated. So that's why the pup was alone, thought Sasha. Her parents had been killed. Sasha looked down and sighed, feeling sorrowful for the little pup; she was too young for this. Sasha may not have had her parents around, but at least she had her brother Zorro. Gryphon had no one. Sasha looked back up at the pup and trotted over, leaping into the dresser drawer and cuddling beside the pup. Sasha was too young to be a mother, and too young to know how to act like one, but still she tried to comfort the pup by covering her forehead with licks and wrapping her tail around her little body. "There there, Gryphon... I understand what you're feeling, at least I'm trying to," she said, her eyes still filled with tears. "I know you'll never forget them, but please.. you just.. have to try to move on.. it's in the past now dear," said Sasha, continuing to lick the pup.

She slowly pulled her head out from under her tail and looked at Sasha with a kind smile. "Thank you Sasha," the small pup said with her cream and white face caked in tears, "Trust me I try to leave this in the past, but it never seems to work out. I promise to this pack or whatever you call it that I will fight with my life to protect every dog in here." Gryphon smiled at Sasha, put her head on her paws, curled her tail around her front paws, and went to sleep.
