--The tom cat stretched, his tail curling and he purred in pleasure. He loved stretching. He licked his nose and looked around. Since his humans left, he's been sleeping in the master's bedroom. He padded downstairs. His litter-box was overloaded with feces and urine. He flicked his ears and padded outside. He sat there, waiting for a squirrel or something to come along.

Petal stretched and yawned.She felt a warmness on her pelt and hissed.She used to love being out in the sun,but now she wanted to be in the dark.She padded to a dark corner of her old Twolegs' house that had been burnt down that was shady.She licked her paw and rubbed the wet paw over her face to wash herself.Since her family and owners died,she lived alone in the old Twoleg house.She padded outside and sniffed the air.She flicked her ears at a noise she liked best,a mouse.She sat down and listened for it again and silently padded towards it.

--The tom padded up to the kiddy-pool. He flicked his ears. He purred and smiled, seeing a dead baby chipmunk floating in the water. He snatched it up and padded to a tree. He climbed up and placed the mouse down. He licked it's pelt clean from the water. He hungrily at the chipmunk.

Petal padded towards the mouse more and crouched.She flicked her ears and unsheathed her claws.She purred quietly as a warning to the mouse but it didn't hear and she pounced on it.Must have been a stupid mouse,she thought,It didn't even see me!I even gave it a warning!She carried it over to a tree and sat in a shady place.She licked her lips and took a big bite out of it.She hungrily ate the rest.

--The tom flicked his tail. He noticed the female alone with the mouse being tore apart by her fangs. He stood up, looking at his chipmunk. It was already half eaten, but he may trade this for her territory. He picked it up and leaped over the fence, his tail waving high. He placed the rodent down and gave a gentle meow in greeting.

Petal flicked her tail and looked up at the tom.She stood and arched her back,not sure of what to expect of him.She was eying him closely,in case he did anything.

--He flicked his tail. He tried not to mess up. He needed to spread his territory. He nudged the chipmunk towards her. He glanced around the fence area. It wasn't small, nor huge. He padded up to a bush and started rubbing his scent against it. He stopped to see if she'd do anything.

She flicked her tail and thought for a second.Food for territory....Well,I could just hunt for more food....but I'm not very good at hunting...She needed food,but did she still need territory?She glanced at the tom and mewed,"Just don't go in my den.Thats where it gets personal."She wasn't scared he was going to do something to her,but better safe than sorry.She padded over to the half-eaten chipmunk and picked it up with the mouse.She stopped and waited for the tom to speak or do something.

--He continued to mark his scent. He still had plenty marking to do, but he needed a break. He padded up to her. He lay down and rolled on his back, his tail swaying. He offered her a smile, trying to seem nice. "Hi," He smiled. He rolled on his belly, his ID tag jingling.
