Karma grazed quietly and lifted her head and shook her neck swishing her tail at several flies upon her striped rump. She turned her head to the nipping at her shoulder and then continued to graze.

Pip trotted around trying to find her mother, not beleiving that she was gone, dead, not coming back.

I see another mare (karma), but do not go over. the heat and eventual influx of predatory threats will drive any herdless mares towards the strongest stallion. Which of course was myself...right? I snort and lower my head, seeing the blazing african sun dip below the bonsai trees.

As if sensing Furahi's thoughts, I look over my shoulder and huff. Knowing he will take that rude and selfish mares side, I don't bother talking to him. He shouldn't harbour bad thoughts towards mares, it isn't good for a stallions reputation.
I stay with Kumbai, but this time lower my head and walk a few paces, grazing on the brittle grass. I let out my heat scent, wishing I could be in a herd...

Karma's ears drew forwards as she munched on the yellow grass by her feet, the scorching hot sun shone down upon her warming her up quickly. Ears flicking, the 3 year old zebra moved on towards a tree but was stopped at the sign of a stallion. Ears forward the mare lowered her head and took a few mouthfuls of dry grass and then looked up again.Ears forwards she slowly walked closer then as she as around 20 meters away she stopped, head high ears forwards she lowered her head again and grazed watching quietly. Ears flicking she pulled them back and then galloped towards the herd ears pinned snaking her neck as she galloped half a circle before perking her ears head high she kicked out slightly before coming to a stop near the stallion. Ears forwards she flicked her tail which thumped against her rump sides.

Pip lay in the middle of this cage like shelter of branches which prevented predators from getting her, many had tried but gave in. The young Zebra gave many loud calls trying to find her mother but not once did she leave the shelter, she didn't know her mother was dead but she was going to keep calling out.
