Yin realized she was right. He was only chest-high, and she was chin-high. He was also stronger than her and could pull himself up, not to mention that the mud ended before him. "Okay, Snow. Remember that I love you," he said. He pulled and pulled, and got one paw free, then two, then three. He pulled himself, clutching the regular grass, and the fourth paw snapped loose. He was now on the sweet, sweet ground, muddy, bloody, and sweaty. He looked back and saw Snow, struggling to keep her head up. He ran towards the forest, quickly scaling a tree, and seeing at the end of the branch a few leafy vines. He stepped out to them, grabbing two. Then he let go of the branch, swinging on one and hanging on to the other. He swung out towards the muddy bank. He swayed back and forth, slowing down. He grabbed her tail, to stop himself and hung above her. "It's okay," he mumbled, wrapping the other around Snow's belly. He kissed her face and swung back, leaping onto the bank. He climbed the tree again and stood at the end. He grabbed the beginning of the vine that was around her and pulled. Slowly, slowly, she was being dragged out. Finally, she was completely on top of the mud. He tugged her onto the bank where the tired, dirty, bloody fox lay, exhausted. Yin release the vine and leaped off the tree and at her side.
