Fay looked up at the sky. "I wonder how old I really am....I probably messed up...I'm not 18 yet though, id be taken away, so I guess I'll know when my 18th birthday is...it's the day the police will come back to take me again."

Athena relaxed when the girl was outside of the stall. She turned to her baby, licking his small neck. Then turning so he could nurse and feel stronger. Athena carefully watched the two standing out side. She may have let the girl be by her earlier. But she was not going to let it be easy to get near them now. Athena smiled while looking at her little colt. He still didn't have a name.

The foal nursed quietly. After a while he was finished and took small shaky steps to his mothers face, nickering. He still wasn't sure how to form his words yet. It would come to him fairly soon.

I rip free of Cody and glare hard at him. "If you can't let me do this, than go. I am not leaving this stall," I go back into the stall and smile stubbornly. "You can't scare me away when I am trying to help. Trust me, it doesn't work. It didn't work for Cody and it is not going to work for you. Athena, I am trying to help you and I will help you whether you want it or not. I won't hurt either of you, but I am going to need you to trust me. You trusted me earlier, why can't you trust me now?" I don't go any closer, but I sit down on the straw like I did in the field when I found her. I sit down and ignore everything around me except the mare.

Star tensed at the girl's touch, but she couldn't do anything about it besides raise her head a few inches and pin. Even that sucked her remaining energy and she had to lay her head back down and draw in deep heavy breaths. Half-heartedly she yanked on the wire that held her feet, succeeding in tangling herself more.

Reason you have come: Mom hates me, told me I'm worthless, so I ran away. Now I found my way to the ranch.
Incidents: When I first ran away, I broke my ankle when I stepped into a hole. How embarrassing.

Personality: Shy, except when she is near horses, she is brave when she is riding, because she can go fast again. She is usually gentle and caring.
Short history: Dad left when I was born, and Mom hates me for it. Growing up, Mom gave me smaller meals, because she claimed she deserved more food than a little brat.

Athena became furious when Emilee sat in the stall. Athena knew she couldn't be nice anymore. She hated to do it, She stomped the floor one last time giving her a chance to get out, she bowed her head as if the girl was a stallion that the mare was challenging. She ran and turned and kicked, she felt her hooves touch the girl. She turned back around being sure she kicked her and that she was going to get out. She then turned back to her foal grooming him again.
"Are you ok my sweet son? I wont let them hurt you!" She said with fear in her voice.

I dodged her hooves barely and made a shooing motion with my hands. Getting up, I press passed Cody and went into the stall of Silken Warrior, the horse I had been working on earlier. I sank to the straw and sighed. "I will continue with that mare," I tell myself.

Athena relaxed as the girl finally walked out. They would have to kill her to get to the foal. Athena looks at the foal with soft eyes. So proud of what she created. She couldn't stop grooming him, she wanted him to look perfect and clean. She kept her eye on everything around her.
