Rose's floppy ears pricked back up again as Ranger continued the conversation with Dixie, and she felt her head turn almost automatically towards him at the sound of his voice. The growing fae tried to make herself focus on the little white pup as she replied, tried to stop noticing Ranger's earthy scent that lay heavy in her nostrils, tried to forget his how soft his fur had been when it brushed against hers... She wrenched her thoughts away, and managed to catch up with the conversation. Dixie had just mentioned that she apparently knew everything there was to know about healing. Rose fought the urge to shake her head with a knowing smile. She'd been a healer's apprentice for nearly two months now, and although she and Gunner were learning a lot, she'd never say that she knew everything, not even if she was Lavender's age. Well, if she wants to be a healer, she can come with us, and we can figure out how much she really knows. Her thoughts weren't at all tinged with malice, but they were calculating and appraising, and somewhat disbelieving. Rose liked what she'd seen of the shy little pup so far, and wouldn't mind being a healer alongside her one day, but, as the fae mused to herself, she needed to realise that there was always more to learn.
But even through all her thoughts, she couldn't stop watching the brute beside her out of the corner of her eye. She fought the urge to shake her head again to try and get rid of these weird thoughts.
Well, seeing as Lavender's going to take all the healers out, do you wanna come? she asked Dixie, to try and distract herself. Her tail had picked up a bit of a wag at the tip as she started thinking about herb hunting again, and she could almost smell the heavy scents of the forest, when her eyes flicked back to Ranger, and she realised that, obviously, he wouldn't be coming. Her heart faltered in a strange, unknown way. Well, I guess we'll probably have to go soon... she said softly, looking up at Ranger, before a little smile curved on the side of her muzzle. I'd ask if you wanted to come with us, but you'd probably be bored out of your mind listening to us all yammering on about herbs. The little, shy smile had grown a little bigger, and her brain started to look for a loophole that would let him come with them, instead of having to go on patrol with the rest of the pack.

-- Finn woke up with a wide but silent yawn. She looked around the stable with half closed icy blue eyes. She noticed she was the only one on the stall. Everyone of her pups was up as well as her mate. Finn pulled herself lazily to her paws and shock out her blue merle and tir coat before she walked towards the stable doors pushing around some of the hay that they had used for a nice nest. She looked about the quiet barn looking towards the close by barn doors where sunlight flooded into making her squint her eyes until they adjusted to the harsh light that shine down. She walked out of the barn and then looked around at her make mates. She soon remembered she had been supposed to go on a border patrol that morning and she knew she would now be late for it. She stretched out her legs before racing quickly through the forest towards the first part of the border. She reached the border of the territory quickly panting only slightly as she smiled at her mate not saying a word as she listened to him speaking the young pups.

-- Asher had woken up early that morning and was out near the forest edge obvious to the rest of the pack as he wondered around aimlessly sniffing everything he came across with curiosity. Asher's stubby little brown tail wagged as he happily walked along the edge of the forest trying to remember the scents of things that he came across while walking. He could quickly identify the scents of some animals while others where harder to get when first smelling them. He looked up eventually getting bored of this activity and wondering what the other pups where don't. He scampered towards Ace and Blaze who had heard where going on a hunting party. He wanted to be a hunter and not a fighter but he supposed it wouldn't be a bad idea to go with them." Hey." He said in a friendly tone to Ace when reaching her and grinned happily at the other pup." What's up?" He asked her curiously.

{So I got so excited about the next version of the role play that I started making Ranger, Hope & Barrett's forums & found adult pics of all of them, then to top it all off I wrote almost 1000 words for the very first role play post that will be posted.
And I just wrote this like 700 word response for Ranger.
I really need to find new hobbies.

Ranger listened to Dixie's words about wanting to be a healer. It made him think about the others who wanted to be healers, there would be four healers in the pack if all the young dogs kept on with their training. He glanced at Rose, she certainly was going to make a great healer, when she talked to him, or anyone, about herbs her eyes would light up and her tone of voice changed to an excited pitch. It was easy to get as excited as she was, at least for him, he would find himself enjoying her talks about herbs rather then thinking them boring as he normally did. Gunner would be a good healer as well, he listened to the advice of others and always took care to make sure he had the right herbs. Gunner was not scared to ask questions and he didn't expect to learn everything in one go. In all fairness Ranger hadn't spent much time around Dixie or Deryn so he really couldn't say how good they really where at healing and finding the right herbs. But with Dixie's mother having been a healer he figured she must know some things, and Deryn seemed like a fast learner and a kind fae from the short time he had spent with her. "I'm sure you will make a fine healer when you are older Dixie. Just remember you never know all there is to know about anything. Always something will surprise you and challenge you. My father always says no matter how much we think we know everything there is always more to learn." He said to Dixie with a kind smile. As Rose spoke again he turned to look at her. What he wanted to say was that he never grew bored of her talking about herbs, but of course that would not make much sense since Rose had said he would grow tired of "us talking" and not "me talking". He simply smiled at her and shook his head. "It is not to boring learning about herbs, I should probably know some things anyway, besides two pretty faes like yourselves will need protection from things like giant praying mantis's." He glanced at Dixie to add her in but then turned back to Rose his eyes filled with humor as he recalled Trinity's reaction to the praying mantis Ica had brought back to camp. "I don't know what my father will say though, he probably wants me to start doing more hunting and fighting." Ranger knew he needed to learn both those things but couldn't he learn them later? He glanced at his father who seemed to have been listening in, at least to the last part. He noticed a strange gleam in his father's eyes as he glanced from Ranger to Rose then back again. Ranger shook off the feeling that his father was thinking something that Ranger himself didn't understand yet. "You know son, I think that perhaps going with Lavender and her crew might not be a bad idea. All Alpha's should know a little about herbs and they will need some protection as they focus on their herbs. You can be their eyes and ears for danger." Ranger felt a smile start to come to his face but he tamed it not wanting to look to happy about going. "If you think it is right sir." He said keeping his voice indifferent. "And to make it a sort of training session for you I would like you to hunt down a rabbit." Ranger gave a nod. "Yes sir." He could hardly contain the smile now but managed it a little longer. Then he turned to Rose and Dixie. "Unless of course my company would bore you pretty faes?" He said, of course was silly when Rose had just said she would invite him if she thought he would like it.

Checkers smiled as Red answered the question. "Very good Red, we always check for any strange scents before going further on with the border patrol. If we smell a fox or badger these are minor concerns but should be reported though not as quickly. If you smell a bear, wild cat or another dog this is a very big concern and should be reported to the Alpha or Beta as soon as possible, even if it means stopping the rest of the border check. That is why it is good to bring more then just yourself on a border check. If needed one pack member can run back while the other finishes the check." He noticed his mate come up to the group then and sit near the back. He smiled at her, she always looked beautiful and kind. He still could hardly believe he had been so Lucky as to find a pack he liked being in, a mate he loved more then anything and to top it all off he had a wonderful family. He scanned over the pups again before his gaze landed on Pistol, the slightly cocky male pup. "Pistol, can you tell me what we do after checking for any scents crossing our border?"

-- Soon after speaking to Ace Asher remembered his father had been going on a border patrol with some of the other pups." Bye Ace!" He said to her before she even replied and then turned from the other pup and raced off into the woods. He headed towards where he hoped was the first border and where he might find the others. He ran and ran until hearing his fathers voice. He turned towards where he heard the talking and in moments was tumbling into area where they all sat after tripping over a large root. He shock the leaves that now clung to him off his pelt and then sat down near the side of the group not caring if anyone had noticed him fall. He looked over towards Pistol who his father had just asked a question not know the answer to this question himself. He knew he should listen since he had been late getting there but he would most likely get distracted by something sooner or later. He didn't have a long attention span and if he was listen to one thing for to long even small things like a birds chirp could pull his attention away from its current target.

Lucky smiled lightly to Annie, though his thoughts were elsewhere. Maverick was the most accepting of all the pack of him, yet even he still treated him as an outcast. Lucky felt that after so many weeks without incident would earn him a second glance, but evidently The Determined were also grudge-holders. Mothers still feared for their pups when Annie trusted him with his own, and now the other's pups were nearing adulthood. They didn't seem to fear him as much, some like Hope seemed to actually enjoy his company, yet their parent's thoughts and feelings were influenced onto them, whether they realized it or not. Still Lucky tried to shake these thoughts away and nodded vaguely to Annie. Chico had been unnervingly quiet in both his waking hours and those spent where his personalities argued in his sleep. Rage he could handle to an extent, but his silence on the matter of control was unnerving, and he had a feeling that he was a boiling pot of stew, and it would only take a few more degrees to pop the lid off. If he couldn't control himself, then who could? He sighed softly and tried to focus on the happy thought of having ample time with Annie instead, though he received that often enough. She hadn't gone hunting in weeks and she was the only one willing to spend time with him, besides every now and again the pups when they escaped their mothers. "It'll be alright Annie. Some things take time." He heard himself say, giving the Brittany's ear a comforting lick, yet it was also to soothe himself at the same time. He still held doubt that he would ever be fully accepted by the pack, this generation or the next. Thoughts pulling in that direction as the pack split up with pups in tow, he nuzzled Annie's swelled stomach gently. Lavender had said there was two or perhaps three in there. He wondered if he would have a son. The thought filled him with an odd mixture of happiness and dread.

Lavender sighed softly as she watched Barrett go off on a bucket, feeling sorry for himself. The pup had done the right thing, but he was hardly being rewarded for it. Yet there wasn't anything else Lavender could do, some things took time, which Barrett must feel was dragging by much too slowly. 'Oh well. When his leg is better, perhaps he'll like the exercises I have planned for him.' She thought, and allowed herself a small and knowing smile. Yes, perhaps indeed.
Her ears perked and she listened to Maverick. turning her head as well. Yet she kept her distance for several long minutes, simply watching the activity. The pups chatting, Maverick splitting up the groups with their future positions, then the debate as to who would go with her to gather herbs. Now it seemed they had three healers-in-training; Gunner, Rose, and now Dixie. It seemed a tad crowded, but it wasn't necessarily bad to have plenty of healing paws on hand. Her expression turned soft as she saw the same seed Maverick saw planted between their pups. Yes, they probably didn't know it yet, and much could change, but for now they seemed extraordinarily bonded. At Ranger's last question to the girls, she took it as her cue and padded up to them, tailed curled up and wagging gently. "You are every bit your father's son." The tan collie remarked with a smile and a wink. "I believe all of us will be glad to have you along."

Icarus had picked up his mantis, whom he had dubbed Hubert for no good reason, and placed it safely away from the other dogs so it wouldn't get trampled in the activity. He must've looked silly, bidding farewell to "Hubert", but he treated it as any living creature. He strode back to the group, brown eyes watching curiously as most of the pups leave with the fighters. He looked to his mother with Rose, Ranger, and the new girl Dixie, and also wondered why Ranger of all pups hadn't gone with the others? His curios mind was brimming with questions, as always, and he set out to find the answer. "Hey, what's up?" He asked no one in particular, though he looked at Dixie as he said it. He wanted her to feel welcome, and he hadn't had the chance to talk to her yet. "Are we finally going out with the adults?" He asked, eagerness showing in his eyes. Though he wasn't exactly looking forward to learning how to kill creatures, he had come to terms with it a while ago. Dogs needed to eat, plain as that. Though the other non-prey animals were fair game for him to care about and observe. He wondered what Dixie was going to do, come hunting with them perhaps? It would give him a chance to befriend her, yet glancing at the others they seemed to have a different plan set forth already. He always seemed to miss everything when he went away for but a few minutes to find something interesting, yet he couldn't seem to get his head out of the clouds, try as he might.
