Russ sat, and stared after her. He blinked, still confused before getting up and walking in the other direction. Soon enough, he was completely lost. He whined as he raced around frantically, upset and scared. Then, he stumbled upon the lobby. Relief surged through him as he padded around. He knew this place. Some dog would come and find him soon! He sat, content and gazed out the window. He sighed as he saw the streets he had grown up in, and fondly remembered his brother. Why had he died??! Oh well. As he peered out the window he suddenly stiffened. A small petite dog was being chased by a group of mangy mutts, all teasing her and attempting to steal a lone pig shoulder bone in her mouth. Russ' mouth watered as he saw the bone still had plenty of meat in it. His stomach kindly reminded him he had not yet eaten. Glancing around to make sure no one was looking, he went and charged after the chase. He caught up to the mutts, who had the white fluff ball cornered up. "HEY!" He barked, standing tall with his fur bristling. The mutts turned around and sneered. A sudden realization crossed their face. "May the spirits of the street mutts save us!" One howled. "It's Russ! Strider's blood brother!" With a shriek of fear, all three brutes fled and Russ grinned goofily after them before turning to the petite dog, She was trembling. "T-thank you!" She whispered, before tearing off a chunk of meat and nudging it towards him. "A token of my gratitude." She squeaked before picking up the bone once more and scampering off. Russ ate the meat and laid down, content. He gazed at the hotel, a blur in the distance. He shook his head. Hotel life was not for him. He had made Breathe mad, she probably didn't want him around anymore. Turning, he glanced back once more before pelting off into the forest.
Breathe wrinkled her nose at the stench of coyote. "We're close," She muttered.
Violet squeaked happily and ran into the forest, immediately tripping over a branch. She got up, but tripped again. And again. And again. The poor pup's tiny paws and short legs did not allow her to avoid this.
