Kato smiled and for the first time he actually got a good look at Layla. She was absolutely stunning. Her coat almost shined and looked so soft. He shook his head and thought,'No, this is Keinen's mate. What am I thinking?' Kato let out a sigh and turned his gaze to the forest down below.

"What's wrong?" Layla asked.she wondered about what kainen said about her not being his mate any more.she shook the thought from her head.

Kato took a deep breath and decided to just tell her, "I was just... You looked really pretty that's all." He looked away and could feel himself blushing under his fur. Gosh, why'd he have to say that, what was he being so stupid?

Layla giggled and blushed "you really think that? but im just a misfit......" she said softly.

Kato stood, "Well so am I, I was a loner until just today." He sat closer to her and curled his tail over his paws. "And you aren't one any more. You're in this leap, right?"

"yea i am.......do you think that Kainen really meant it when he said i wasn't his mate anymore? because i have had my eye on someone else." Layla said as she turned and faced Kato.her Amber red eyes glistened in the sun as it started to slowly go down.

Kato felt his heart drop, "Well, I don't know what Kainen meant..." He felt a pang of sadness that she liked someone else. And he looked up at her with cool gray eyes, he felt as if he could get lost in her bright gaze forever. Her eyes were like pools of honey. Kato wanted so badly to be with her, but he had to accept she probably never would be with him. There was almost longing in his eyes as he looked at her.

Layla hoped that Kato didn't realize she had a crush on him when she said she had her eyes on someone else. she thought it was kinda obvious but didn't really care all she knew was that Kato wouldn't ever want to be with her.

Kato inhaled deeply then exhaled,"Layla, I need to tell you something. And I know it may just confuse you more, but I like you. No, I love you. I want to be with you. I want to be the father of your cubs. I mean, that is if you'd ever want any." He shook his head,"I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me. I just needed that off of my chest."
