Jtara sprang back in alarm, and spun swiftly on her hooves. She galloped quickly, watching out for ditches or underbrush that could slow her down. She bucked once or twice considering the suddenness of the attack, for all she knew, it could be running after her right now.

Dark followed the herd as it galloped across the plains. He could feel it close behind him.

Jtara's head moved in the rhythm of her blur of hooves below. She kept a good pace, in the front of the small group of horses, she hardly slowed for a quick breather because she was not rest tired.

Jtara slowed to a trot once they reached the ridge, and turned a little sideways to watch Dark, but no one stopped, not until the danger was far away from harming them.

Dark whipped around and tried to stomp on the mountain lion. It dodged his hooves and lept onto his back. He started bucking and rearing then rolled onto his back. The lion let go and he jumped up and kicked it. He then started to run again.

Jtara hoofed the ground anxiously, digging at the wet earth. She broke into a canter catch up with the rest, s o she didn't take any chances as Dark was slowing up. She waited for him a few times, but when him and the cougar was close, she run off again.

Dark ran as fast as he could to catch back up with his herd. He had lost the mountain lion and hoped to lose it for good.

Jtara and the rest of the herd were trotting away, a bit scattered all over the place. They sensed the danger was far now, and began to graze. Jtara did the same, she bent down to scratch her foreleg, and nibbled on some fresh shoots.
