Devil Fire
Devil gave Breeze an even look. He could push her right now, he really could, and his irritation was starting to boil. If his mares couldn't see that he cared for them, well that was too bad, but that didn't mean he was just going to let it go. He knew for a fact that if he let them choose, they would leave, and he would hunt them down. It was a fact, just as surely as he knew that if he came across his past herd, he would slaughter them all in cold blood.
He looked back at Hawk, shaking his head. "You don't know me." He knew if he ever trusted a mare, all they would do was run away. He wasn't stupid, who was Hawk trying to fool? Giving Breeze a slightly harder push he looked at her. "What's with you now?"
(Yeah... Devil had a half mad sire, so he has some whacked up values. To make his mind less complicated for everyone-because it is supremely messed up- here it is:
He cares for his mares, but knows that they will run away if he trusts them(what his sire and experiences told him) so he gets angry if they run away but when they are with him he cares for them deeply, though he doesnt get too close because of the trusting issue again. So, he is afraid to trust that they will stay, so he takes matters into his own hands and doesn't trust them to stay, and protects them and helps them. If they try to run, he gets angry. That's basically kind of Devil in a nutshell.)
