"I've known you longer than you think." He began, his tail swaying excitedly. "I grew up with you, as a little pup. My brother and I did. We both had a little bit of a crush on you, to be honest. And we would always fight over that pretty white fae pup." He licked her nose, sitting on his haunches. "I grew up with you. My brother was already suffering from a splayed paw that he always tried to hide. He was kicked out soon after when someone found out. So he went out into the woods, not yet weaned but taught enough to fend for himself. He lost an ear but he kept trying. I used to visit him in the woods, and when I heard you were his, well, his girlfriend, I got jealous." He sighed and shrugged softly. "And. . . yeah. But then we started bonding more, and, that's when he told me the truth. The bear didn't attack him out of anger, he begged the bear to. He wanted to make it look like an accident. He killed himself because he was already in so much pain. Broken bones everywhere, and with Strider always trying to steal you away, he ended his life." He cleared his throat, smiling weakly. "Well, that wasn't as exciting as I wanted it to be. I told you more than I wanted to."

"Midnight?" He raised a brow and chuckled somewhat nervously.
