His excitement was cute but I wasn't one to play. Never have I ever played with another wolf due to my overprotective parents. "Oh well," I said, not knowing how to reply without sounding rude or stuck up. I don't play. Not because I'm too old but because I never have. I spent all my time with the healer.
Wolf took in a sharp breath, and his eyes flashed open. He lifted his head, and immediately let a yawn over take him. His jaws parted and his teeth flashed, his large canines aching for food. His pink tongue stretched out for a moment, before he retrieved it and closed his mouth. It had been quite a while from when he had first went to his nap today, though his stomach didn't growl, he was used to hunger but felt it stronger. As he struggled to his paws, he mumbled "I'd better... No, I'll eat first."Wolf

He kept himself from finishing his sentence, knowing he needed the strength. He had been exhausted and sleep, no matter how nice, wasn't exactly enough. He needed food. He began to lumber out of the den, looking up as he exited as he memorized the entrance appearance and scent.
He looked forward, staring at the kill pile. He approached it and stood, his side to it as he looked down on a decomposing deer leg, the remains of a rabbit and some elk remains such as bones, but as well as some fairly fresh meat. He grumbled something through his clenched teeth, something like 'scum' to the kill pile. Just like his brother, he wouldn't dare accept food from the kill pile. In his eyes it was just a lazy canine's backup plan, as if they didn't have the guts to kill something or just didn't feel like earning their meal, but that was just what Wolf saw, possibly by other wolves, too. He turned away, even in his case he'd go out and catch something. A rabbit would be good enough, he wasn't dying from starvation or anything.
His head whipped around, and a gray rabbit upon it's hind legs searched for Wolf, within seconds they locked eye contact. Wolf didn't move. The rabbit's long ears twitched, and in moments it began to relax. It went on all fours again, and cautiously bounded away, casually before it stopped to graze in a patch of grass. As it nibbled the long, thin strands, it was unaware Wolf had crept up. Two metres and the rabbit would hang from him jaws. He pounced forward, and snatched the catch in his jaws. It squirmed, wriggling in his jaws and he pressed harder. Suddenly a thicket made some rustling noises. He dropped the rabbit purposely and it fled, his eyes fixed on whatever was in there. It sounded bigger, slowly he approached to see a flash of tan. Deer. A small fawn, white speckles covered it's back. He came into view with the creature, the deer was nervous but didn't flee. Clearly it had either a good experience with wolves or learned it wouldn't be hurt. He lunged and the fawn squealed, it was a decent size. Wolf didn't know that this was the fawn that Axel had taken care of for a short period of time, but he just assumed it felt fairly safe around canines.
It was unnatural for them to not flee... It probably lost it's mother, who obviously wasn't here, and was probably taken into to raise until large enough to eat... But it was let go. It thrashed weakly in his jaws, he tightened his grip and headed over to a shady spot under an oak tree. He enjoyed fresh meat, but would settle for whatever, as long as he earned it himself.
He lay down, he didn't usually plan things but knew what he'd do after his snack. He pushed the squealing fawn down and pressed a fore paw on it's side, keeping it uncomfortably pinned down.
