And now I owe you my life, Cat sighed gently as she quite literally dragged herself to the river that lay nought but several meters from her.
I appreciate this with all of my being. And with that, she dove into the rushing blue water.
She could feel the droplets washing away two years' worth of dirt and filth and grime. She had appeared almost black to outsiders before, but as she gulped greedily from the stream that was now giving her a will to live, she felt everything drift away.
When she finally broke the surface and emerged from the river, she was not only sopping wet but the exact colour of freshly turned soil, the Earth on which she was born. A new light flickered inside her eyes but she wanted to contain her returned bright emotions until she'd eaten something. She drank in the scene before her eagerly and curiously.
May I ask... why?
