Decoy

I listen closely to Riva. I hadn't realized how bad I had hurt Maria when I said it, but now I kind of do realize it. I hadn't tried to hurt her, I was just, just not stable. Maria should have able to tell that I hadn't truly meant it. I look up and nuzzle Riva.
"I didn't mean what I said. It was just...well, I was...I guess I wasn't thinking straight. Why couldn't she see that? She's normally the stronger one, you know. I can't lose her again, Riva. Not after I found her. When I found her, Zach was all I had left. I had met another mare, too. Her name was Scarlette. She was Katy's horse. But, she died. She went over a waterfall, Riva. I feel like I'm losing everyone I let inside. Lori, Scarlette, Maria, and I just don't want to-can't- lose you and Shy. Of course I have Zach, but he spends all his time with Katy as if he were a stallion courting a mare," I smile softly at my remark, but the smile disappears directly after. "What am I going to do?" I ask her in a whisper. I lay my head on the rocks of Lori's grave and let a single shiver run through my whole body. I don't think I can survive this way, I think to myself, but I dare not say it out loud.

Zorro

I nuzzle Maria softly.
"Tell me exactly what happened, Maria. I'd like to know why you stopped getting along with him. Why, the first day I met you he was so darn protective of you I could barely come up to you. He loves you Maria. And, honestly, when I first saw him with you, I almost turned tail and ran. He's younger than I am, but he's also bigger. I was so nervous that day. Tell me what happened to make that vanish so suddenly," I nuzzle her again and set my head over her back, nibbling her mane a little bit to comfort her.

Shh waited nevously for Decoy, Riva, and Image she wished she wasn't stuck here. She glanced at the human male whay was his name? Zach. That's right!" She snorts

Maris sighs.. "Blah blah blah" she said and once finsihed she looked to the ground.

Riva smiled and nuzzled him. "she's your sister... She was just as stressed as you were.. but it wasn't just what you said.. it was how you said it... to her it sounded like you truly meant it... that's why she left... because everytime she looks at you she sees a dead body.. We need to get back.. you need to get back and find her.. you need to talk to her.. alone.. untill she understands.. now you know you both will end up argueing... even if it takes forever to get her to understand... she needs to know you didn't mean it... but you can't just say 'i didn't mean what i said' you know what she'll do... and one of you will get hurt and more than likely it'll be you... and.... I don't want you hurt again... and we don't need a war going on when theres a little one around" She nickered gently and nuzzled him lovingly... as she motioned to image who was fast asleep.. "But... theres also the fact that she may not even want to talk to you... you might have to get through to her stallion first... that is if she doesn't turn tail and run.. cause i can see it in the stallions eyes that he'll follow her.. either that or you snake her away and talk to her... but she'll end up hurting you so don't do that..." She said. "i don't know decoy... Maria... she's not as easy as she looks is she..." She smiled. She nuzzled him... sighing... "Somethings you have to work out yourself" She said gently and nosed his head gently then rested her head over his back.

Katy sat on the couch glaring at her phone on the table... everything that had happened made her think...

Shy nudges her stall door laying down she nickers softly groomiung her flanks bored

Decoy

I snort softly.
"Do you think you can find your way back? I have an idea of where Maria is, but I want to catch her before she leaves and never returns. But, I have to go a lot faster than we can with Image. I swear I'll meet you back in the valley," I press my muzzle to her neck and stand up. I sigh and start off at a lope, around and down the way Maria took me after our argument. Once on level ground, I galloped, ignoring the slight pain in my side. I had a bad habit of doing things before I was completely better. I race along, following the scent of her. Soon, I see her. I slow down a bit and nicker softly. I see Zorro's head come up and he flicks his ears nervously. I see Shiloh lift her head as well. She nickers back and I smile. I walk up to Maria slowly, cautiously, almost. One wrong move and I'd lose her forever.
"Maria, we need to talk. Alone," I say sternly. I was prepared for the worst that could happen, but honestly, I really didn't think the worst was going to happen. I glance at Zorro and he takes a step back.

Zorro

I listen to Maria's story and sigh.
"Maria, I don't think he meant it, darling. I don't think he really wanted to die, Maria. I think he was just in too much pain to think straight. Ever think of that? you should go talk to him, Maria. I don't think he meant to hurt you like that, love," I nuzzle her softly and nibble her mane. Then, I hear a nicker. Looking up, I see Decoy. I blink a few times as he barely acknowledges me and goes straight to Maria. I step back when he begins talking to her. Then, when he shoots me a glance and says alone, I nudge Shiloh softly and lead her away. I figure that this is best for them. They really should talk about it, I think to myself. But, I'm worried someone might get hurt in the process. Like, Physically hurt.

Maria shrugged but seeing Decoy glare at zorro She bites him hard and nods to them telling them to go.. "fine" She muttered and turned around and walks for the lake. "Just know.. that every word you say... I'll ignore" She muttered and walked to the lake.

Riva nodded and then stood up. "come along deary" She said not liking the way she'd come she decided to see if there was another way out... so she went down to flat ground. adventually she found a way.. it was longer but safer.. she got to the valley but not near shy.. she felt something strange.. like she was being followed... then all of a sudden ropes were around both images neck.. the riders bolted... image having no choice but ot bolt too.. riva reared and followed.. ears flat.. once the humans got to the destination they were thrown in a corral. image galloped around with riva.. Riva knew she was a quite a distance away from the valley. she sighed gently and told image to stop.. she knew she wasn't getting out of here.....

I snort and walk beside her.
"Maria, just listen to me!" I scream at her. "I didn't mean it! Of all horses, you should know that the best! You should know that when I'm like that, I don't think straight Maria! I don't think straight in those situations and I never have! You don't know how many times I though about running away when they took you. I loved Lori, but you're my sister! God, Maria! Why can't you see that?" I yell at her and bite her back, hard. I kick out at her, but not to actually kick her. I'm just trying to make a point.
"Why can't you understand that, Maria? I didn't mean it and you know it! You just weren't thinking straight either, I guess. If you had been, you would have understood! You would have known that I didn't mean it!" I whinny at her, angry and frustrated with her. I didn't realize until just know that I had tears rolling down my face.

[beth.]

Maria slipped a tear.. ignoring him the best she could... though him yelling didn't help that at all.. "You know what! Maybe I do understand! maybe it's just the fact that you could actually bring yourself to say it! even when you were not thinking straight! I mean Really!" She snapped smelling the air as she breathed in 'somethings wrong' she thought. "Decoy I love you with all my heart... But..." She said as she looked at him and almost fell back she pulled her eyes away from him and didn't look again.. but... her annoying eyes looked again.. there he was.. laying on the ground.. dead... She pulled them away... "But all i see when i look at you.. Is you... Lying on the ground... Not moving..." She said and turned away again... not letting her eyes flutter. "And some how.. every time i do look at you... it feels like it's my fault.. that's why i left you... i knew Riva would tell you.. That's why i didn't tell her that.. I thought that if i left you.. it wouldn't happen!"

Decoy

I stopped my yelling at that. I just looked my sister. I saw the tears on her face and suddenly, my anger is gone. It is replaced by care and sadness.
"Maria. How could anything like that be your fault? I didn't think straight when I said maybe I'd like to die. I didn't mean it Maria. Please believe me. I would never say anything to hurt you. I would never, ever do anything of the sort. Maria, I'm not dead. I'm right here, next to you. What kills me is seeing you walk away from me without a glance and not knowing why. Couldn't you see that I didn't understand until Riva told me?" I press my face to her neck, unsure what to say next.

Maris sighed gently and as she did when they were foals she rapped her head and neck around him and held him tightly but of course not enough to hurt him. "I... )m sorry" she said gently.
