Decoy snorted softly and half reared, carful of Zach. Then, they were off. "I hope she is, love," decoy said as he loped with his daughter. It was nice to have Zach aboard again. The stallion followed what was left of his mare's fear-scent. He wished he had gone after her the day they had taken her. But, he'd had to stay behind with everyone else. The feeling of the slight breeze in his mane made him hold his head high. He turned his head to check on his daughter and then looked forward again.
Almost an hour and a half later, decoy could see a pretty black and white shape in a corral. He whinnied loudly and smiled at Lakota. "There's your dam, love. Let's go see her," he nickered, slowling to a trot as they got closer. He halted a bit away and Zach dismounted.
Zach looked around and then let Decoy and Lakota into the corral to see Shy. His eyes widened when he saw she was tied down to a pole. He cussed loudly and yelled, going to pound on the door. He didn't care that it was only 8:00 in the morning. He wanted a full explain action to as why the poor mare was tied to a pole with no food or water. After pounding on the door for a full five minutes, he helped himself to the hay in the barn and a bucket for water. He looked at the poor sick mare and couldn't believe his eyes. How could they do this. He took out his phone and snapped a picture of Shy, sending it to Katy telling her to come out here when she got the message. He was pissed off. So pissed off, he could just take Shy and take her to an actually vet that would have a different approach. He opened the corral gate and promptly untied the poor mare. "Oh Shy. I'm so sorry I let you come here. I'm so sorry. We are taking you away as soon as Katy answers my message," he stroked the mare gently and waited to see if she could stand.
Decoy whinnied and full on freaked out. He kicked and bucked at the pole, but to nothing would it break. He finally just went down on his knees and nuzzled Shy. "We'll get you out of here, Shy," he watched Zach open the corral gate and untie Shy. "Come on, love. You can lean on me if you need it," he glanced at Lakota and nudged her softly. Then he waited to help Shy stand and get out of here.
Zach called Katy but got her voicemail. "Hey Katy it's Zach. I brought Decoy and Lakota down to see Shy and you'll never guess what we found. Shy was tied to a pole with no food and no water. You need to get down here right now. And if I were you, I'd ride Shiloh. Everyone knows how much she wants you to ride her. Anyways, get down here right away. We are not leaving Shy here for another day. We can take her to my mom's. My mom will actually respect the fact that she is a wild horse. Plus, if she doesn't get care soon, she might lose the foal. D*mn it Katy who would leave a sick pregnant mare with out food and water? Love you, bye," he hung up and sighed, looking around for someone to yell at.
