"Yeah." She nodded, looking up at the sky as well. Jacqueline had never really had a chance to see the sun setting, but now she could see it for real. The sun began to sink below the horizon and the sky was a mixture of oranges. It was rather beautiful, and the sun between the trees made a great scene, along with the rays that danced of the snow. She was glad for her thick fur, as the harsh winter nights could easily kill a young pup.

Proton nodded in agreement, he thought about the loss of pups "yeah luckily we don't have any females that are expecting" he says, still staring into the beauty of the sunset "Want to go down to the lake for a swim?" he asked Jacqueline looking in the direction of the lake and motioning his head towards it.

"Sure." She smiled again. His first comment about the females expecting made Jacqueline think about her brothers, but she shook the thought away before the tears could build in her eyes.

Proton started walking slow but then began to run , he was making pace quick pace to the lake, he never really cared about how cold it was, the lake had been his favourite place to play with his father when he was younger. Proton came up to the lake and tried to stop but the ground was wet due to melted snow, so he flew straight into the freezing cold water.

Jacqueline jogged behind the alpha and snorted a laughter when he landed into the lake. She remembered how cold the river had been earlier that day, but she didn't have a second thought when she leaped into the water. The lake was colder than the river, and even her double-layered coat of fur didn't prevent the water from sending a chill down her spine, but she didn't really care this time. Jacqueline splashed around and even doggie-paddled a little.

Proton swam to the surface with a laugh, his teeth chattered from the coldness, but it soon stopped when he paddled, he noticed Jacqueline was in the water as he forced his paw upwards towards the surface to make a small rainfall of water, he splashed Jacqueline in a playful manner, he had gotten used to the cold temperature now.

Jacqueline laughed as Proton splashed her and she flicked a shower of water on him with her tail. She wouldn't yet touch the bottom of the lake with her paws, and the weight of the water in her fur kept pulling her down, so she had to keep paddling. She had always liked swimming, but she always had a mother or best friend to keep her afloat. When her paws got tired from paddling, she didn't know what she'd do.

Proton gave a brute-like smile and ducked his head under, he kept his eyes open without the water having to sting his eyes, like his father taught him, Proton was devastated by his father's death but he never thought his sister seemed too sad, anyway this was the lake they set him off on his journey to the afterlife on a tree trunk that had been hollowed out.

Jacqueline watched Proton go under the water and cocked her head to the side. [Ii]What's he doing?[/i], she thought and for a moment she forgot to keep paddling. The water gripped her fur and she was pulled under so that is was to her chin. Jacqueline paddled frantically to stay above the surface and she guessed she was splashing a whole lit if water around in the process.

Proton saw Jacqueline frantically paddling, so he swam upwards putting her back paws on his back to help her keep balance, he could hold his breath for a little longer he just hoped she got back to the normal paddling by then or they would both have to be out of the water, the lake was quite deep but it had a shallow area,
