PACK▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
the alphas are the leaders of the pack, hence, i said the word leaders. alphas aren't what you think they are made out to be. they don't bark around orders- demand for you to bring them food, they suggest things. but if you do something that doesn't please the alpha, they will show their dominance, listen to them. they merely lead the pack around the territory, they mark along the way, and they are the only wolves to mate in the pack. the reason for this is because the knowledge of the territory get passed down to their offspring. their combined fur and build get passed down to their offspring. not always are the leaders a male and female pairing. sometimes two males, mainly, if you're going to have a homosexual wolf, it will most likely be two males- it's so rare for it be two females. but, two gay wolves as mates does not happen often. this is where the betas come in, if one of the wolves die, that beta becomes that wolf's mate, even if they don't like it. they're going to have to get used to it.

betas are not chosen by the alpha, they are just the highest ranking subordinate, the first one on the list. betas are there to learn the way they mark the territory, the paths in the territory that need to be followed. pretty self explanatory. two betas are not mates, they are simply just paired together. they are not expected to be mates, they can loath each other with a burning passion and constantly want to kill each other for all i care, but they are just simply paired together. they can both be male, and they can both be female, or they can just be male and female, doesn't really matter...

wolf; camelot > male > mate | form. > snowface.
subordinates is a wolf who does a lot of the hunting, and then when the alphas fight they tend to join in as well. even if it's a member of the pack, the alphas are always right. they mainly follow the alpha, and most of the time they do the hunting. the alphas do help, but they aren't always the fastest wolves in the pack. they are what makes up the pack and that's that. they don't mate, they can have mates, but they aren't allowed to have pups. if they want to leave the pack and start their own, it's up to them.

omegas, omegas, omegas. these wolves are just at the bottom of the food chain, they are around a year old, not yet into the ranks. they are the last to eat, but it's not like the other wolves spit in their direction. they look up to the older wolves, and expect them to show them the ropes. they are highly influenced and this is the age of where wolves could go wrong if they have a bad wolf showing them how to act and what to do.

loners can start their own pack, with other loners or wolves who are in the pack and decide to leave at one point. it doesn't really matter.
they can also follow the pack around, eating their scraps and sleeping where they used to sleep. it's a pretty docile life. if one of the females are in heat, while in the pack, sometimes the males mate with them. the alpha will not be happy about it, trust me. but it's fine living a life being reckless and not really caring about much unless it's winter. during the winter it's harder to keep up with the pack, and the pack tends to eat more than they do during the summer leaving little to eat. it's hard to hunt because a full grown wolf cannot hunt a bull elk by it's self. the wolves who are starving to death and trying to keep warm tend to kind little animals that burrow in the snow in order to survive. it's just rough during the winter, they don't always survive.
