There used to be a ranch around these meadows. The ranch was where humans could always go and ride horses, they could also look after them and catch wild horses. The horses were tame, and they would often breed the horses as well, to get show foals that would grow to be racers or jumpers. The human at the ranch were nice, and they would always give the horses treats, and the horses were happy...but all they wanted was freedom. A few were sick of being cooped up in their stalls or paddocks. They wanted to feel the wind through their manes and the dirt in their hooves, and the wild horses missed that. Soon, the horses started to disobey the riders.
The riders were confused with the horses, especially the tame ones, they had never acted like this before. Less and less riders began to come to the ranch until almost no riders came at all. The owner of the ranch got angry, so one night, while she and the staff members slept, the horses came up with an idea. The oldest stallion was a dappled grey at the age of 25, and his name was Storm. He suggested, that in the middle of the night, they all escape and run into the wild, so they could be free, and the other horses agreed with the wise stallions suggestion.
The next daym when the humans woke, the horses were gone, all were running wild and free, all in one large group. It was a good thing they ran, because later the next night, the ranch was put on fire. The ranch owner and everyone inside died, and people came the next day to remove and destroy the house before moving the remains away. When they took the remains, they left nothing behind, nothing of the house or humans.
The horses were glad, they were left with more territory to roam around in, and they stayed as a large group until the wise stallion, Storm, died. He had died from old age. All the horses were shocked, so they moved away on their own, some went into small bands, and foals went with their mothers. Life wasn't as easy as they seemed...now they are Running Free.

• All Tess’s rules apply.
• Don’t have horses with the same names/nicknames
• This is Semi-lit, so at least 4+ sentences per character per post, 4 sentences is 1 paragraph, thats all I ask, and make your posts pretty.
• You must use your own forms, so I know that you will be Semi-lit enough, but if you don't have a form, PM me and I will send you one.
• Do not use other peoples horses when they are not online.
• If you want your horse to have twins, ask me first.
• Ok, lets try to keep the genders semi-even. For every two mares, make a stallion. If you only make two horses, make a mare and stallion, not two mares.
• You cannot have two of your horses in the same herd unless that are both mares or unless it is a foal and mother/father.
• If you are not on for 1 week, I will take your horses away without warning, unless you have given me an excuse
• No character is perfect, so no power-playing, god-modding, mary sues or gary sues.
• My mini-mods and I have the power to ban you from a RP and not accept you.
• Don’t ask to be a mini-mod, I will choose people who will be loyal to the RP.
• You can have as many horses as you like, but use them all.
• Be nice to me and other RPer’s, don’t fight in OOC, if you want to fight, fight over PM
• Do not steal anyones characters, even if they are from another RP.
• Don't beg to join if you are not semi-lit enough.
• You get 3 warnings for breaking the rules, once you use the three warnings you are banned.
• If you are banned, you may not come back.
• Have fun.

A harem, or band/herd, consists of one stallion and a few mares. There is only one stallion in a band, and any colts will be kicked out at two years old. The stallion mates with all the mares during the spring, when they're in heat. Next spring, one year later, they will give birth to one foal, rarely twins. A few days after giving birth they will go into heat again and very seldom a mare will be in heat for the first few days of summer.

A lone mare is a mare or female yearling that does not belong to a herd, but in the spring there will be very few of these, because stallions fight over mares constantly. Mares are like prized possessions or trophies to a stallion.

A bachelor is a stallion or male yearling that has not yet started a herd of his own. Bachelors will sometimes join together to steal mares from herds or will walk alone, occasionally harassing band stallions until they manage to get a mare of their own.

A band stallion is the one and only stallion in a herd. He steals mares from other bands and mates with all the mares in the spring. He is also the one responsible for protecting his herd against predators and rival stallions. If a band stallion dies, the mares may either split up or the stallion's eldest son may take over the herd.

A lead mare is a mare that is chosen by the lead stallion to lead the herd to watering holes, and also takes the lead when they migrate to the canyon/valley each year in the fall. She is bred by the band stallion.

A foal is a baby horse of either gender from 0-12 months old.

A yearling is a horse of either gender from the ages 1-3 years. Colts are kicked out at the age of two, and fillies may either leave to find a herd of their own, or stay.

A stallion is a male horse over the age of three years and a mare is a female horse over the age of three years.

Courting is a more gentle way to bring a mare into a herd, or to tell them where to go if a stallion is moving the band to a new location. A stallion will nudge the mare in the direction he wants her to go.

Snaking is a harsh way of getting a mare into a herd, and is how stallions steal mares from other stallions. The band stallion will lower his head and flatten his ears, galloping behind the mare, chasing her into his herd. If a mare is being snaked, there is little she can do to resist the stallion before being forced to go where he wants you to.

If a mare is stolen from another herd, she may sneak back to her old harem if the band stallion has his back turned.

1 month is 20 pages, so 60 pages is a season and 240 pages is a year.

Season:

Spring { x }
The weather is getting warmer, but not too much, The ice is beginning to melt and the grass is beginning to grow back. Mares are giving birth and going into heat. Stallions are getting very protective over their mares.

Summer { }
The weather is very warm, and it hardly rains during this time. Some mares are still in heat, and some foals are still being born around this time.

Autumn { }
The weather is now starting to get colder. Mares are out of heat and the stallions are starting to settle down. Food is beginning to get scarce.

Winter { }
The weather is very cold.It is hard to find food and water, because of the cold weather and the rivers would be frozen. Some unlucky mares would give birth, but their foals would barely survive.

Weather:

Sunny { x }
Foggy { }
Windy { }
Snowing { }
Raining { }
Blizzard { }
Warm { x }
Hot { }
