Pica tossed her silver mane and trotted to a safe, warm hillock where she could have her foal in peace. As she lay down, spasms of pain wracked her body. {and.. le fade}

The dark chocolate colt was large, muscular, and bigger than the other foals Pica had given birth to before. Even though he was just hours old, he was big and imposing; certainly he was a good match for Ivory's heir and eventual leader of the herd. Pica nosed her son to his feet and set a brisk pace, determined to teach him to be strong and fast. He blinked his dark eyes silently before following his mother back towards the rest of his herd.

Swan raise her head and nickered, lonely. She had to be the only mare with no foal. Maybe she should just wander by herself for the winter. She shook off the stray grass off her charcoal coat and sighed. Maybe she was meant to be a loner. She started to walk around the meadow, trying to decide if she should leave or not.
