Curiosity isn't unnatural. In fact, it's only normal to be adventurous. But sometimes, it can lead to things you'd never dream of; what happens if your life freezes over?

.: Thousands of foxes live in the hills, tundra, forests and plains of Alaska. You're one of them, and as you're padding through the winter snow one day you spot something odd in the environment-- it appears to be a tunnel made entirely of snow, and icicles hang from the top. You walk forward to investigate, and as you move inside you find it to be a gargantuan cavern of ice. And before you have time to react, the entrance you'd just came in completely collapses.

.: Knowing that the chunks of ice that fell will freeze over and block your exit, you plod through the cavern silently, realizing it's bigger than you originally thought. By luck, you eventually reach a place where light shines through a gap in the top and more is coming from ahead of you. You break into a run, sprinting out of the cavern and into broad daylight.

.:This place is unlike the territory you're used to; you can see that there are several acres of land, and it all looks so... inviting. A rocky shoreline is accompanied by a few snowy cliffs and a beach, and a long area of tundra and forest surrounds it. But this place is not your home, and you're stranded here until you can find a way out. But the ice in the cavern will likely only thaw in spring, and this winter is going to be a harsh one. Will you survive for that long? And it's mating season too-- will you find a mate here, and if you do, will you ever go back to your old territory?

.:It's all your choice. This winter isn't going to be an easy one to get through, but it can be done. So you might as well make the most of the time you've got here; you'll be staying until you can get back to your old territory. But will you want to?

.: The cavern is entirely made of ice, and it is huge. A fox could easily get lost in its many tunnels. Several tunnels lead into the mainland (where the foxes used to live) but most of those have collapsed. All of the tunnels are very fragile and will easily collapse.

.: The area where the cavern exits to is a span of several acres. Along one side is the shoreline, but the water is freezing cold, so be careful. Across from the beach (along the side of the area where the cavern exits) is a long, tall cliffside, blocking the animals from leaving other than going through the cavern. On the side of the area nearer to the cavern is a forest, where prey like minks, birds and voles can be hunted. Where the forest ends the tundra starts; it is a long, flat plain where plants are sparse because the soil has a thick layer of permafrost. Moose and caribou roam in the tundra, but it would be wise for foxes to stay away from them. A few bears live throughout the entire area, so watch out.

Weather: There are clouds gathering on the horizon. Be prepared for snow not to far from now.

1. Okay, so this role play is with foxes. Only red foxes, silver foxes and arctic foxes will be accepted! Also, remember that foxes are not-- and are nothing like-- wolves. Don't have your fox join a pack and be alpha and all that junk. xD Mates will be allowed, and encouraged, but don't role play out mating! Also, foxes don't have kits until spring.

2. All of Tess's rules apply.

3. This is a semi-lit to literate roleplay. Use your grammar people! Nothing like -he ate- or -she died suddenly- <-- Because that's lame. Please try to have at least three full sentences per post, preferably more (unless you have writer's block, which is understandable).

4. Please don't roleplay explicit scenes like mating or really gory scenes. That's not something we all want to hear

6. Make your own form; I have the right to not accept someone, and I will be judging you on your literacy and how much you follow the basic idea of the role play.

7. Please, please, please PM me your form!It's just to keep the forum neat. I will add your character(s) to a list of characters on this page. You may not start roleplaying until you are approved by me.

8. Please try to be active. If you haven't posted in a week I will PM you, If you haven't posted in two weeks I will remove you. You can PM me if you are going to be busy or away, and I will excuse you.

9. This role play will only go until the end of winter! I might re-open it next winter. We'll start with the foxes coming into the area, and end with them leaving or deciding to stay at the beginning of spring.

By the way, since they are all of the same species cross-breeding is possible and will be allowed.

You are to make your own form-- which I will judge you on based off of how literate it was and how much it stuck to the basic plot of this role play. You can reserve spots. Before making a character, check the characters list; The genders should be kept fairly close, so if you see that there are 8 boys and 2 girls, try to make a female character if you can.
