Roxanne raced up to him as the cougar ran off and nuzzled against him as tears fell, "you came." she said as a sob rocked her body she had never been more scared in her life.

The sounds of fear started the mare, a whinny erupting from her. The cougar darted past her and into the trees, her rearing up with a neigh. She turned her head while reared up to see a stallion and frightened mare, whom she figured were the victims. Her hooves landed back on the ground with a solid thud. The flaxen chestnut mare shook out her red mane and snorted before cantering out past them toward the grasses. Empire looked at them as she passed, surveying the couple with dark eyes before flicking her red and blonde tail and continuing.

Thorn heard approaching hoofbeats and looked up. The black-and-white mare smiled when she saw Star approaching her. "Hey," Thorn whinneyed softly.

Cloud frowned. "I'm so sorry." He spoke softly, watching her. He shifted slightly. "See these scars?" He pointed his muzzle to his right flank. Scars ran from just below his spine and down his flank the shape of clawmarks. I was attacked by a mountain lion when I was 4." He raised an eyebrow. "Interested?"

"Oh wow." Cleo chuckled slightly. "I never had any real crazy times. I was a show horse. At least I was a good one. I guess I am interested." The mare chuckled and lied her head down. Her golden eyes lifted to watch him tell the story, her eyes as curious as ever and her ears perked to listen,

Cloud nodded. "Well when I was younger, I roamed alone a lot. I needed no company, only the wind in my mane and the taste of freedom. One night, it was raining and I was searching for shelter. I had gone the wrong way and came upon a rocky slope. A fierce yowl cut through the night. I'm not going to lie. I had never fought a mountain lion and I knew the odds were against me. Strength is in numbers of course. A bolt of lightening. I call for help. The lion gets me, but I shake him off.Thunder. Suddenly there are shapes. Horses. A herd of many. Maybe 20 or more. I had scented them earlier. The stallion, a shadow in the night leaps out of the undergrowth followed by the rest. They chase it away. I would be surprised if it lived. Taken aback, blood loss, I step back and tumble off the edge. It wasn't a big enough drop to kill me. But I hit my head and when I woke up, a lot of my memories were gone. Not all. Most." He shook his head as Cleo came back into focus. He glanced at her realizing his story changed from past to present in the way he told her." I'm sorry. Please, what is it like being a showhorse?"

"Oh...ouch." Cleo said, making a pained face. "Well," She began, sanding back up. The mare chuckled and lifted her head and straight tail. "I would look nice and," She remembered her 'show walk' and gave her yellow eyes a gleam. With careful lifting of her hooves she began cantering around. "Prance around with a person leading me, and try to awe the judges." She stopped, standing back in front of him. "I got lots of sugar cubes and pampering. Mostly grooming for shows. Besides the trailer rides, it was a pretty good life. Thank goodness I was gone before" she shuddered, "breeding." She finished. Cleo shook her mane and flicked her tail with a nicker. "So that's me."

Cloud chuckled "seems like the life. Except for the breeding. I dunno, I always wanted to be a ranch horse,teaching the farmers children to ride. Watching over them, becoming their best friend. Their shoulder to cry on." He chuckled and stood, stretching out. His eyes traveled to the flower quin had given her. He glanced around. "Here" he said as he picked a lily and placed it behind her ears. "Never forget there's always another chance. You have your whole life to live." He smiled and nipped her shoulder gently. "Let's run."
