After her retort, she figured a point had been made. An irritated snort flew out of her, and her tail lashed on her snowy haunches. Heat. Such a nasty season. She pinned her ears but did not want to risk breaking bones over a stallion. The mare had butt in, and had every personality trait she hated. Show-off. Flirty. Cocky. The snowy mare's amber eyes were ablaze, but all the anger was contained as she back ed up, nearly standing behind Cloud, part as instinct, and part for protection.

Cloud glanced quickly as Cleo stepped behind him. Her heat scent hit his nostrils. Mares. He turned back to the mare and lowered his head, a defensive stance. It took a second to realize that they were acting as a herd would.

Cleo snorted again, the tension a bit high here. She looked around, wondering where Quinn had gone to. She was a bit worried about him, as he seemed pretty upset. The mare could still smell the flower from behind her ear, the scent calming. The type of flower was one of her favorites from when she was a filly. Golden eyes switched around the horizon for a few moments, forgetting about the situation before she was snapped back to it.

Clouds eyes flickered to cleo, he saw her scanning the horizon. He thought it would be about the other stallion. She didn't seem so happy to watch him leave. Clouds ears flattened again and he turned away from the mare. "There is no need for this." He passed close by Cleo and didn't look her in the eye, afraid she might find grief there. He shook his head. No need for that, he barely knew her. He stopped a few steps away from her and looked back, "Are you coming?" He asked as the wind blew around him, gently ruffling his mane and tail.

Cleopatra watched him with peering eyes, trying to catch his gaze with her own in curiosity as he passed. "Oh...um...yeah." She said, her pink nose twitching slightly. She gave Star a last look before walking behind Cloud, her light colored hooves clomping quietly. Long locks of her mane flew all over as she shook it out, trying to rid of this heat odor. She huffed with agitation and followed nonetheless. She cantered a bit to catch up, legs moving smoothly. She slowed and looked at him with slight concern. She felt like she had done something wrong to disappoint her new friend.

Cloud walked a bit before speaking. "That was wierd. Where were we?" He stopped and looked back at her, his gaze meeting hers but impassive. He smiled, seeing her frustration, doing to cheer her up. He knew by now, a stallion would have asked her to join his herd but she didn't seem like one to rush into things. He wasn't either. Cloud had begun to become intrigued by her. "A walk.Well were walking now. Maybe we could find a river and refresh, then I would like to know more about you." He watched her carefully,"if, of course, you're ok with it."

[mindless.]

"Well yeah...That would be fine." Cleo chuckled and nodded. She turned to nip at her white shoulder a moment and looked back to him. "You seem like more of the type that would have enjoyed a bit of entertainment from a mare fight." She grinned, her eyes shifting back to the ground. She loved to watch tempers fly but rarely would take part herself. Cleo was always a bit curious yet of Quinn and hoped to get to know him as well. For now though she would figure Cloud out.

Cloud smiled and shrugged as they came closer to the river. "I don't have time for immature mares." He dipped his dark muzzle into the water, quenching his thirst. He turned and smiled "what about you?" He said as he lay down in a patch of sweet grass.

She chuckled and wet her light pink tipped muzzle in the crisp water. After a few long gulps she turned to him. "About what, exactly?" Cleo asked with a tilted head. She had no idea where to begin. Her golden eyes narrowed a bit as she stood in a circular ray of sunlight filtered from the trees. It solidly shone down from a wide gap in the canopy.

Thorn sighed. Even though she had surrounded herself with other horses, the mare still felt as though she were alone. The black-and-white mare's ice-blue eyes scanned the area for someone -anyone- who would be willing to talk to her. A stinging sensation on her side alerted Thorn to the fly that had landed there and bitten her. The mare lashed her tail, successfully ridding herself of the little nuisance and spreading her heat scent in the process.
