You've spent all your time as a sled dog. Your owners and mushers adore you, but you're trainers are cruel. To them, your nothing. They push you hard and work you all the time, to them your money. The more races you win, the more they get paid. No wonder you mean nothing. This is the life as a sled dog. You can choose to run away, or join the race.

Race Dates
The next race will be held in Nome, Alaska.
It is a small race, much smaller than usual.
The course will start from the Nome Airport
to Kougarok River.
Racers are expected to find their own way there,
take any route and the first team to the finish line
wins.

Rules
1. Don't use text talk, it's complicated and it is annoying.
2. Don't fight OOC.
3. Only have a dog that is one of the breeds you are allowed.
4. Don't crossbreed dogs with wolves.
5. No more than 4 dogs each. Keep teams and genders. Or your form will not be accepted. If you start out with 4 dogs, and want to play a pup later in the RP, one of your dogs must die for every 2 pups you play.
6. Don't use terms like 'fae' or 'brute' they are the terms used for wolves, not dogs. Although they are related, I don't want those terms used in this roleplay.
7. This is semi-literate so I want at least three sentences per post. It's not a lot to ask, but do not use writers block as an excuse all the time. Any less than three sentences more than twice, you are warned.
8. If I decide to ban you, I'll send you a message why. Don't argue, but you can rejoin with different dogs.
9. Once all spots are filled, we will start and I will place your dog at a rank. Don't argue, your dog will be demoted or promoted all the time throughout the course of this roleplay.
10. Do not god mod or power play! You do this once, and you will get a warning.
11. Keep everything realistic, if your dog happens to get into a fight it would not win against two other dogs.
12. There are no mates and crushes, dogs that were raised together would probably consider each other as 'mates' but for this RP male dogs will be put up for stud and will spend 1 week with a female in season. If they get on, puppies will be in the future.
13. No more than 4 pups per litter. Pups must be distributed evenly between role players.
14. Once pups are old enough to leave their mother, they will start training.
15. Once pups have left their mother, half of them must go to the team that the father is in.
16. If you want to make a new team, ask me. I may not allow it at first, but it depends.
17. Ask me to make a person. Only four humans will be allowed into the roleplay. Two owners/mushers (one for each team) and two trainers (One for each team).
18. If you make a person, still make two dogs as well because the people will only be role played when training or racing. Keep the main focus the dogs.
19. Rules subject to change. Have fun. No code words. Just read the rules every so often.

Dog team members are given titles according to their position in the team relative to the sled. These include leaders or lead dogs, swing dogs, team dogs, and wheelers or wheel dogs.
Lead dogs steer the rest of the team and set the pace. Leaders may be single or double; the latter is more common now, though single leaders used to be more common during the mid-twentieth century. Sometimes a leader may be unhitched (a loose or free leader) to find the trail for the rest of the team, but the practice is uncommon and is not allowed at races. Qualities for a good lead dog are intelligence, initiative, common sense, and the ability to find a trail in bad conditions.
Swing dogs or point dogs are directly behind the leader (one dog if the team is in single hitch). They swing the rest of the team behind them in turns or curves on the trail. (Some mushers use the term swing dog to denote a team dog.)
Team dogs are those between the wheelers and the swing dogs, and add power to the team. A small team may not have dogs in this position. Alternatively, the term may be used to describe any dog in a dog team.
Wheel dogs are those nearest the sled and musher, and a good wheeler must have a relatively calm temperament so as not to be startled by the sled moving just behind it. Strength, steadiness, and ability to help guide the sled around tight curves are qualities valued in "wheelers."

The Kennel is where dogs that are spare racers are placed. They are let out three times a day to interact with the main team, but spend most of their time in a large enclosure with the other spare dogs of their team. In the kennel there is also separate cages, which are rather large but a lot smaller than the enclosure, where females that are more than 53 days pregnant (they give birth at about 63 days) or that are nursing pups already. The females are let into the same enclosure the spare dogs use when the spare dogs are let out. Pups that are over the age of 4 weeks are allowed into the enclosure with their mother once a day. Pups are not to be separated from their mother until they are at least 2 months, that's 8 weeks, old. Once separated, they will spend their time in small cages apart from siblings and family so they get used to not having their mother. Once they are 3 months old, they are split evenly between the mother's team and the father's team. If there is an odd number of pups, the mother's team gets the odd-one-out pup.

The pound is where dogs that are no longer wanted or needed are placed. Dogs that are also over the age of 8, are no longer allowed to race, are also placed into the pound. There is a large enclosure where the dogs in the pound are all allowed into four times a day so they do not suffer from loneliness. Deformed pups, though this may sound rude, will also be placed here once they are 3 months old as they are classed as 'unfit' to train to become a sled dog. Occasionally, odd-one-out pups will be placed here too, if there are too many fit dogs and spare dogs in both teams. Dogs who have also sustained an injury, meaning they can't race anymore may also be put into the pound.

Studding is where a male dog is put up on an advert so he can breed with multiple females. This is usually done to get fresh genes into the team, or if the team is a little low on numbers a dog will be put up for stud to simply gain more pups. There will be only one dog put up for stud for every two females that are in season. Stud dogs are only purebred's as they will have been specifically bred to race and create outstanding offspring. Less experienced males will not be used for a stud, and studs are often between the ages 3 and 9. That way, they are not too old to breed but are not too young an inexperienced. Studs will only mate with purebred females of their breed, unless both owners of the teams agree to produce a mixed breed with their best male (one breed) and the others best female (another breed). Some males will never be used for stud as they are mixed bred, but since mixed bred females won't be bred either some of those may breed. However, since the teams don't interact, only when breeding their dogs, it is usually mixed breeds in the same team. Males for stud will not be permanently put into the enclosure, they will continue to train and take part in races as the other dogs will.

A female in season will be put up here so that she can breed with one of the males up for stud. Usually the female will only be in season for around 5-7 days. 10 at the most. During that time, the female will be put in a special 'enclosure' with another female in season and one selected male away from the others. That male will usually repeatedly mate with both females, however if a female proves to be too aggressive she will be placed in a cage for the rest of the time she is in season and 3 days after. Females in season will not be able to train or participate in any races. After a female has mated with the male chosen, and has now come out of season she will be placed in a large cage for three days until she is allowed back out to train with the team. If an owner does not want a female to breed, each time she comes into season she will be placed in a cage until 3 days after she has come out of season. Also, a female will not be bred over the age of 10 as she will already have been retired. This age is classed as an 'elder' as dogs do not live for long after that age and after reaching the age of 10, females do not produce as good offspring as they used to. Females which are in season will be taken out of the team and will be permanently kept in the enclosure until she is allowed out, 3 days after she has come out of season. Please note: your dog doesn't have to breed with the other dog it is paired with, it is your choice and if you are not happy with who your dog is with, let me know and I will change it.

The weather will change all the time. Probably at random, depending on the time of day the weather will also change.

Time of day will be updated every so often, probably every 5 pages of role playing or something. Check here often, and if it is the middle of the day don't have your dog sleeping because it's night. Pay attention to this section as it will be updated all the time.

The season will change every 50-100 pages. Also pay attention to this, because there isn't an exact set number of pages the season will change.

You are allowed to make breeds which only include those used for sled dogs. Some of the breeds used for sledding are not up here because they are quite rare, or rarer than others (though I have put some rare ones here) or I just don't want too many types as a lot of them are cross breeds. This section will also include the general details needed about each of the breeds. You only have to read the section on what breed your dog is going to be, that way you know that the characteristics of your dog is going to be average and it won't seem like a 'miracle' or 'freak of nature'. Try and keep everything within these ranges.

Breeds
Alaskan Malamute
Greenland Dog
Seppala Siberian Sleddog
Siberian Husky

Alaskan Malamutes
Description: The Alaskan Malamute is the largest of the Arctic dogs. This thick, well-built dog is solid with a plumed tail that is held over the back. The head is wide with erect ears. The eyes are of medium size, dark brown small, and almond in shape and are obliquely placed in the skull. The dog holds an image of a wolf but with a proud, sweet expression. Dark eyes are preferred; blue eyes are a fault according to the written standard. The feet are large, of the snowshoe type with tough pads. The thick, coarse double coat averages one to three inches in length and comes in a range of light gray to intermediate shadings of black, sable and shadings of sable to red. Combinations include wolf gray, black and white, wolf sable (red undercoat with dark gray outer coat) or red. The only solid color allowed is white. The dog often has darker highlights and sometimes has a dark mask or cap. The legs and muzzle are almost always white. In some areas, dogs may be either smaller or larger than the official standard.
General Personality: The Alaskan Malamute is extremely loyal and intelligent, sweet and most affectionate toward its master. If its canine instincts are met, it matures into a dignified and mellow adult dog. They are very friendly and therefore are not suitable as guard dogs. Without firm leadership and daily mental and physical exercise, these dogs may become destructive nuisances, acting like big, rambunctious puppies. Malamutes love outdoor activities and even do well in obedience with firm encouragement. Although it can be difficult to train Malamutes for formal obedience, it is not particularly hard to train them to be well-mannered because they love to please. Males can be very dominant. Malamutes are quiet compared to most dogs but they do like to howl and dig. This breed should be supervised around unfamiliar small animals, as they have a strong prey instinct. This does not mean they are not good with small animals; some Malamutes have been known to raise small kittens as their own.
Height: Males 24 - 26 inches (61 - 66 cm) Females 22 - 24 inches (56 - 61 cm)
Weight: Males 80 - 95 pounds (36 - 43 kg) Females 70 - 85 pounds (32 - 38 kg)
Health Problems: The Alaskan Malamute is prone to bloat, hip dysplasia and chondrodysplasia (dwarfism).
Life Expectancy: About 12-15 years.

Greenland Dog
Description: The Greenland dog is similar to the Canadian Eskimo Sleddog, but is not as heavy and slightly taller. They have a thick stand-off outer coat and dense under wool, which allow them to withstand constant outdoor living in the temperatures that can reach -50 to -75 degrees Fahrenheit. They have small triangular ears which rarely get frostbit. The head is robust, broad and wedge shaped. The jaws are extremely powerful. It has a large, bushy tail, which curls over the dogs back and protects the dogs face while it is sleeping. The legs are well feathered and the toes are thickly furred with large pads.
General Personality: Aloof and very independent, the Greenland Dog can be loving with an owner he bonds with. The breed remains principally a working dog. They have the typical, Nordic, good, loyal temperament, but when the dogs working in teams, they do not have the opportunity to develop a relationship with one master. They are independent, self-willing, rowdy and boisterous in their play. This dog is not content to simply lay around the house all day long; the Greenland Dog needs to work or have some kind of vigorous activity. They are usually friendly towards people and have no guarding or protector instincts, but their hunting skills are very developed. Training these dogs is very difficult and it takes a lot of firm, patient leadership to teach the dog the most necessary skills. This breed still retains a lot of wolf instincts and character. Their alpha pack instinct is very strong. This breed likes to roam.
Height: 22-25 inches (56-64 cm.)
Weight: 66-70 pounds (30-32 kg.)
Health Problems: Usually very healthy
Life Expectancy: About 13 years

Seppala Siberian Sleddog
Description: While the Seppalas used to be the same breed as the Siberian Husky today they are considered a separate breed differing in appearance. Seppalas are the working lines and the Siberian Husky's are the show lines. Their legs and body are longer and they are generally lighter in weight and build than the show dogs. The ears are taller then the show lines, set closer together and are very erect. The stop is less defined than the show lines. The tail is naturally held high in a sickel curve over the back when alert. Their coats are medium in length, dense with an undercoat nearly as long as their outer coat. Coat colors vary and are not considered important in the breed. Some common coat colors include pure white, buff, buff and white, black, charcoal gray, gray, brownish gray, and blue-gray, sable (reds with black-tipped guard hairs and black noses). Piebald spotting and agouti (wild type) coloration are common. Some have dark faces with white only on the feet and tips of the tail. Eyes can be blue, or brown, or any combination of the two.
General Personality: This is an active working breed who will be docile and trainable when it is provided with enough exercise. This is a high energy dog, especially when young. Seppalas are very intelligent and trainable, but they will only obey a command if they see the human is stronger minded than themselves. If the handler does not display leadership, they will not see the point in obeying. Training takes patience, consistency and an understanding of the Arctic dog character. If you are not this dogs 100% firm, confident, consistent pack leader, he will take advantage, becoming willful and mischievous. Seppalas make an excellent jogging companion, as long as it is not too hot. This breed likes to howl and gets bored easily. Does not do well if left alone for a long period of time without a great deal of exercise before hand. A lonely Seppala, or a Seppala who does not get enough mental and physical exercise can be very destructive. Remember that the Seppala is a true working sled dog in heart and soul. They are good with other pets if they are raised with them from puppyhood, but do like to hunt small game animals. Seppalas are thrifty eaters and need less food than you might expect. This breed likes to roam.
Height: 22 - 23 inches (56 - 58 cm.)
Weight: 40 - 50 pounds (18 - 23 kg.)
Health Problems: Prone to allergies, cancer and eye problems.
Life Expectancy: About 12-16 years.

Siberian Husky
Description: Siberian Huskies are strong, compact, working sled dogs. The medium sized head is in proportion to the body, with a muzzle that is equal in length to the skull, with a well defined stop. The color of the nose depends upon the color of the dog's coat. It is black in gray, tan or black dogs, liver in copper dogs and flesh-colored in pure white dogs. The medium sized, oval shaped eyes are moderately spaced and come in blue, brown, amber, or any combination thereof. Eyes can be half blue and half brown, (parti-eyed) or can have one blue eye and one brown eye (bi-eyed). The erect ears are triangular in shape, set high up on the head. The teeth meet in a scissors bite. The tail is carried over the back in a sickle curve, not curved to either side when the dog is excited. The large "snow shoe" feet have hair between the toes to help keep them warm and for gripping on ice. Dewclaws are sometimes removed. The medium length, double coat is thick and can withstand temperatures as low as -58 degrees to -76 degrees F ( -50 degrees to -60 degrees C). Coat colors include all from black to pure white, with or without markings on the head. The face mask and underbody are usually white, and the remaining coat any color. Examples of common colors are black and white, red and white, brown, gray and white, silver, wolf -gray, sable and white, red-orange with black tips, dark gray and white. Pie-bald is a very common coat pattern.
General Personality: Siberian Huskies are loving, gentle, playful, happy-go-lucky dogs who are fond of their families. Keen, docile, social, relaxed and rather casual. This is a high energy dog, especially when young. Good with children and friendly with strangers, they are not watchdogs, for they bark little and love everyone. Huskies are very intelligent and trainable, but they will only obey a command if they see the human is stronger minded than themselves. This breed likes to howl and gets bored easily. Does not do well if left alone for a long period of time without a great deal of exercise before hand. A lonely Husky, or a Husky who does not get enough mental and physical exercise can be very destructive. Remember that the Husky is a sled dog in heart and soul. They are good with other pets if they are raised with them from puppyhood. Huskies are thrifty eaters and need less food than you might expect. This breed likes to roam.
Height: Males 21-23½ inches (53-60cm.) Females 20-22 inches (51-56cm.)
Weight: Males 45-60 pounds (20½-27kg.) Females 35-50 pounds (16-22½kg.)
Health Problems: Prone to hip dysplasia, ectopy (displacement of the urethra), eye issues such as juvenile cataracts, PRA (primarily in male dogs), corneal dystrophy and crystalline corneal opacities. Also prone to a skin issue known as zinc responsive dermatitis, which improves by giving a zinc supplements.
Life Expectancy: About 12-15 years.

| Spirit | 6 years | Female | Siberian Husky |

Username: Buzzy & Shmop inc.
Name: Spirit
Age: 6 years
Gender: Female
Breed: Siberian Husky
Description: Spirit is a copper Siberian Husky. She has the white paws, legs and undercoat usually found on her breed. She is quite tall already, weighs a fair amount and her shoulders seem to be quite broad. Her nose is a pinky colour, with the edges almost a grey-black. She also has a large copper bushy tail, and bears the simple traits of a Siberian Husky, like the white mask. However, Spirit also carries bi-colour eyes, one a light brown colour and one a creamy blue colour. Her left eye, the creamy blue one, is the one that she does not see well out of. Overall, Spirit is the normal Siberian Husky with nothing unusual about her.
Personality: Like many, Spirit is very active. She doesn't like just laying around, however since she is a sled dog she does like to get some peace after a training session or after a race. She is a loyal dog, and is sure to warm up to her team mates and her musher, whoever they are. This husky, however, can be considered 'un-normal' as she likes to destroy anything small, one of the reasons she rarely breeds when she is in season, she is known to kill her own pups, but that doesn't mean she isn't caring, she just considers anything small as a toy and can easily be too overwhelming for young pups and small animals. However, recently she has shown love for pups that she has come across, be it in town or ones that were introduced to the team to be trained as a sled dog.
Height: 20.23 inches
Weight: 49.8 pounds
Health Problems: She has an eye condition. She can not see as well as she should out of her left eye.
History: She was born in Alaska, to another sled team. She was only 4 weeks old when her mother and her owner went missing. Another musher took her, and one of his females took care of her since her pups did not survive the winter before. She was trained by him to become a sled dog, and when she was 3 years old she was a lead dog. She lost the position when she was discovered to have an eye condition, snow has lodged into the corners of her eye and had ruptured her retina so she couldn't see as well as she should out of her left eye. She was heart broken when her owner placed her in the pound because of this, but was bought again by another musher. She has only been with his for a few weeks now, but feels the same love she did as for her old owner.
Rank Desired: "Lead Dog!" Since she was always a lead dog in her old team, she is determined to prove she can be the lead dog, no matter what her state is.
Team: Dusk Marchers
Is your dog in season?: Yes, she is.
Can your dog be put on the breeding list?: Occasionally
Other: None

| Max | 4 years | Male | Alaskan Malamute |

Username: Buzzy & Shmop inc.
Name: Max
Age: 4 years
Gender: Male
Breed: Alaskan Malamute
Description: Max generally is a large dog, tall, heavy and he has a large head. Though he looks fluffy, he has a rather thin coat to say Alaskan Malamutes usually have thick pelts. He is pure white, and has dark brown eyes. Nothing unusual there. There isn't much description to give about Max, he has only one colour and follows a lot of the usual traits of his breed.
Personality: Like most, Max is loyal, affectionate and very intelligent. He is very friendly, and gets on with practically every dog in his team. Although he likes being left alone sometimes, Max should never be without supervision as when he gets bored he will chew everything and anything he can, however he listens to his master. Training is hard for him, because he finds that although he is loyal towards his musher, he is very afraid of his trainer and so doesn't perform well for his trainer.
Height: 29 inches
Weight: 93.7 pounds
Health Problems: He is currently a very healthy dog.
History: He doesn't really have much of a history, he was born on a Alaskan Malamute breeding farm and when old enough he was bought by his current musher. He was trained to be a sled dog, and has been ever since. He has also sired many litters of pups, as he is almost always up for stud and since he gets on so well with other dogs, no one seemed to resist him.
Rank Desired: He would like to be a Team Dog.
Team: Dawn Killers
Is your dog in season?: "No! I'm a male!" Max is unable to come into season.
Can your dog be put on the breeding list?: Yes
Other: Nope

| Harley | 6 years | Male | Greenland Dog |

Username: Buzzy & Shmop inc.
Name: Harley
Age: 6 years
Gender: Male
Breed: Greenland Dog
Description: Harley is a pure white Greenland Dog. He has a sleek figure, and his pelt is generally quite short compared to that of a normal dog. He is rather tall, and his muscle in and around his shoulders give him most of his weight. He has creamy green eyes.
Personality: Harley is very aloof and quite independant. He loves his team, and gets on with others very well. He is loyal and loves to play, when playing he is boisterous and sometimes gets carried away. He is hardly ever found relaxing, as he likes to be active and always has to be doing something. The only time he is found laid down around the mushers cabin is after a training session and he is sleeping. He also likes to test the trainers, though they can be harsh and he is sometimes afraid of them he does enjoy pushing the limit.
Height: 24 inches
Weight: 68 pounds
Health Problems: Currently none
History: Nothing exciting, he was born to an owner, origionally bred in Canada by a breeder. He was sold to another owner at 8 weeks old and at 3 months was trained to become a sled dog, when he was 2 his owner mushed them to Alaska, but most of his team did not survive he harsh journey. Himself and the remaining survivors were sold to seperate owners. It took him a while to adjust, and warm up to his new owner and team. It also took him a couple of months to adjust to the harsh trainer.
Rank Desired: He is happy with whatever rank, aslong as he is running.
Team: Dusk Marchers
Is your dog in season?: No
Can your dog be put on the breeding list?: Nope

| Alue | 2 years | Female | Seppala Siberian Sleddog |

Username: Buzzy & Shmop inc.
Name: Alue
Age: 2 years
Gender: Female
Breed: Seppala Siberian Husky
Description: She has a light brown pelt, generally fluffy with a darker back and an almost black mask. One of her paws is completely white and her her tail has tints of black and white in it. The dog's eyes are a silky colour, he looks blind but looks can be descieving.
Personality: She is very energetic and bubbly. Much like a pup, when bored she will try and make a game out of anything. She is quite intelligent and rather easy to train, as she listens well, so long as a treat is involved. She adores howling, especially when the moon is out. It relaxes her, and calms her quite a bit. However, it can be considered annoying by others. She is a little shy, which is strange as her breed are usually friendly and quite outgoing. When she is let free, she likes to try and hunt small animals, however she does adore pups.
Height: 22 inches
Weight: 46 pounds
Health Problems: She is allergic to poppy flower.
History: She was born to her current owner, but in harsh times was sold for a few months. When that owner died, since her breeder was a friend of her owner then she went to live with her breeder again. She quickly learnt to trust the other dogs, but was still quite shy. She was trained to be a sled dog, but because she gets bored easily, this process was quite long and she has only just become a full member of the team.
Rank Desired: She honestly doesn't care.
Team: Dawn Kilers
Is your dog in season?: Nope
Can your dog be put on the breeding list?: Not yet
Other: Nah

| Danny Quinn | 23 years | Male |

Username: Buzzy & Shmop inc.
Name: Daniel James Quinn but he goes by Dan, Danny, Quinn or Quinny.
Age: 23 years
Gender: Male
Description: He is a tall young man, he has broad shoulders but is overall quite thin. He usually has quite a serious and disapproving face, rarely smiling and there is a air of mystery to him. He has dark brown hair with lighter highlights, and usually spikes it up slightly although it is a little long.
Personality: Danny is very serious, and rarely smiles. He is harsh when training the dogs and doesn't trust easy, but he can be kind and gentle when you get to know him. Danny doesn't like to pick favorite dogs, but does seem a little harsher on those he doesn't like that much, though it is a little rare that he doesn't like a dog however he does care more about money than the actual dogs and only cares for them if they win a race, meaning he gets even more money.
Height: 6'10"
Weight: 123 lbs the last time he weighed himself
Health Problems: Nothing major, but he suffers from cramps in his right leg occasionally.
History: Basic, born and raised here. He was a spoiled brat as a kid and always got what he wanted, though he didn't really want it, he just wanted what everyone else didn't have. He never cared for what he had and always wanted more. Eventually he grew a greed for money, which is how he ended up training dogs; for the great pay.
Rank Desired: Trainer
Team: Dusk Marchers
Other: Nope
