Hawkwing
I Brute I Testing the river ice I River Near Camp I
Hawkwing stretched his jaws in a wide yawn, his pink tongue curling into the roof of his mouth. As the morning sun peaked slowly over the horizon the camp was bathed in a warm light. Hawk stood and stretched, putting his white tipped paws in front of him he bowed down low to the ground before rising again and stretching each of his back legs behind him. He hadn't slept particularly well, though he suspected his lack of sleep had more to do with the constant worry he exerted over his pack.
Thoughts buzzed through his head like a million wasps returning to their hive, causing the brute to let out a short sigh. If sometimes wondered if he would be a better Alpha if his pack feared him the way the pack had always feared his father. He pushed the thoughts out of his mind with a shake of the head and exited the warmth of the den. Blinking sleepily he gazed around the clearing watching his pack begin to stir, in the early mornings light. He ran his tongue across him lips as he spied a pair of birds high in the trees. A useless hope as he could never catch them. Padding swiftly through the clearing he wove past the large boulders under which dens had been dug and trotted determinedly towards the river that flowed lazily by the packs campsite.
His paw-pads left little prints in the snow sheet that had covered the land overnight. His white-paws blended into the scenery very well during the snowy season. A single forlorn squirrel chattered angerly at him from the top of a green pinetree. He glared at the creature as his stomach let out a low rumble. Food had been scarce even during the best of the snow-seasons but the autumn fires had scared most of the large game out of the territories borders. Despite Hawks thick earthen-colored pelt his ribs were becoming more and more pronounced with each passing day and he couldn't help but wonder when it would all become to much. If he was hungry that was one thing but he couldn't stand the silent wails of him packmates as they went to bed hungry again.
Arriving at the edge of the trees Hawk snorted loudly as he found the river frozen. Padding foreword carefully he scrapped at the ice with both front paws trying to open a hole in the ice for drinking. After a few moments he gave up in this venture and leaned down to lap at some of the freshly fallen snow instead. It melted on his warm tongue making the brute feel even colder than he had felt before. Glancing at the river once again, he lifted a paw and rested it on the icy surface. He repeated this practice with his other three paws till he was standing in the middle of the ice. It creaked a bit under his weight but did not crack.
Nonetheless. He thought to himself.
I should warn the pack to be careful, we don't want anyone falling in.Twigleg
I Brute I Sneaking Prey I Northern Field I
Twigleg's long roan-colored legs thundered across the white field sending flurries of snow flying in all directions. His heart thumped wildly in his chest as his pink tongue rolled out of the side of his mouth as he propelled himself foreword as fast as his legs would take him. His ice-blue eyes were locked onto him intended target, a small white hare. The hare raced ahead of the long-legged wolf turning sharply from one direction into another, in it's vain attempt at escape.
Twigleg's white teeth clamped into the hares hindquarters. Crimson blood welled on the hare's fur as the brute snapped his neck. He glanced fearfully from side to side scanning the horizon for any sign of life. The sun was beginning it's assent into the sky and the patrol would soon come by this area. Keeping his ears perked for any sound of approaching pawsteps he scarfed the hare down in a quick and noisy mess. The pack hadn't had much food lately and as an Omega he was expect to go without and seven sun-highs without food had gotten the better of the roan and beige brute. Finishing off the meal in mere seconds he quickly bounded away his white muzzle stained with blood.
