He flicked his ears back at the sound of a gazelle running his way. Quickly the sound of many hooves flitted through his ears. He turned with his head craned over the grass too see a gazelle five yards away, and quickly leaping through the grass. His paws pushed forward as he started a quick sprint that lead to a 50mph run towards the herd. The gazelle Talon was chaseing was sprinting towards it herd and didn't notice Vinny in the tall grass. Luckly he was running out of the animals way and leaped into a small dent of the earth. Once he was sure the animal had passed he leaped out of the grass shaking his wet fur. Thats when he saw Talon. Quickly he leaped at the tom and pushed him to the grassy floor. Mud now covered the both of them and the leader looked up to make sure the herd of gazelle was long gone. He stepped off the other tom and just shook his head, giving him a good glare and sitting down taking a breath.

{Could you possibly not use so many pictures in your posts? I mean the one of the gazelle is fine, but all the ones of him, could you skim that down a bit? I mean we know what a cheetah looks like walking, we don't need a image. Hate to sound rude if I do..}

Vukivu was up a tree, observing the two males below secure a kill. Or maybe not secure...Is that Vinny down there, with the other male, Talon? he thought. For a split second, he thought of perhaps jumping down from his tree right onto a gazelle, securing himself a kill and perhaps letting the other two share. But he decided not to; the tree was way too comfortable and the gazelle herd was nowhere near his tree. He settled for observing. He looked around to see what else was going on--a little ways away, he spotted the female, Cheche, complain herself to sleep. Vukivu rolled his eyes. Typical Cheche. But she did have a point, in his opinion. He didn't particularly like how wet his fur was.

He stood up as much as he could dare to without falling off the tree. Then, quickly, he shook himself off. He wasn't completely dry yet, but as he sat back down, he knew he could be patient. I'm just glad this tree isn't dripping water on me, he thought gratefully. Now where's everybody else?

Ikor groggily opened his eyes, the lack of light almost stunning him. The ground he had been sleeping on was still a bit damp, but a bit drier than the condition it was in before his nap. Generally the world seemed no different from before. Vinny and Talon were attacking some gazelle and he could just barely spot Cheche taking a nap too. Swiveling his head around, he noticed Vivuku standing on a tree branch, just some hundred meters away. With a grumble, he got onto his paws and stretched. He was in no rush, and perhaps Vinny would be willing to share his catch with the group. A little gazelle to fill his tummy would be nice. The thought made him lick his lips.

The gazelle now taunting him, Ikor began a slow trot toward Vinny and Talon, hoping they would be willing to share a few bites if they caught hold of one gazelle. The two of them combined had quite a good chance of getting one. Making his way over slowly, he pondered over what they would respond with. Vinny was a nice guy, he might shoo him off gently or so. After all, it was true, he should be getting his own prey.

He stood up to see where the herd had wandered off too. The herd wasn't to far away, it was still in their territory. He heard another tom approaching and turned to see Ikor. The tom was probablly here looking for a gazelle neither him nor Talon caught. Yes he was a bit disapointed that they hadn't talked about hunting at the same time, so it was a bit suprising when the gazelle heard ran off at the signal of the lone gazelle. Vinny dipped his head softly to the tom and yawned, flicking his ears back to hear the gazelle calling to each other, and to their babies.

"I am sorry for the lack of food. We had a bit of scramble." He said taking a quick glance at Talon then sitting on his haunches and kneading his claws into the soft mud that was underneath them. Yes, he was covered in mud from tumbling into the mud with Talon. The only reason Vinny had tackled Talon was to prevent the tom from chasing the herd any further than they had already ran.

She flicked open her eyes and streched her legs out with a great yawn. As tired as she was, she knew she would have to get up and get to hunting. Maybe Vinny already did for the group? She thought as she sat up, grooming her pelt. The rain had poured badly the previous night and most of the animals were wet, and cold. The weathr was all signs of the up-coming winter. She stopped grooming and stood on her paws, walking through the mud and towards one of the acaia trees nearby. The bark had already been sorta chipped off from last time she scratched at it, and once again she put her paws on the trees bark and chipped away.

Ikor shrugged in response to Vinny's comment on the unsuccessful hunt. "Not a big deal. I'm never much help as it is anyway." Not wanting to take part in the hunt he continued, "My knee feels a bit busted, I must have slept on it wrong. I'll join you guys for the next one." Vinny usually let him get away with it, only because he was honestly the mess up of the group. It's not that Ikor couldn't hunt, he just didn't do it very well. All this strategic planning gave him a headache, and so he typically just ended up running like a maniac after the prey for a few meters and then give up. Vinny had told him that he just needed to keep up that speed for a few more meters and he might have had a catch, but something always stops Ikor. It's as though his mind freezes up and the the only time he can make a catch is with an old gazelle or a really young one. Sometimes, Ikor used to wake up in the middle of the night and just run. Run as fast as he could for as long as he could to try and push past this barrier he had. Regardless, it never helped him during the actual chase.

Vukivu, sensing that the hunt was over and that it was safe to join, carefully made his way down the tree. He was careful to avoid thorns along the way, and landed catlike on the soft ground. He checked for any broken bones he might have obtained, and when he saw no injuries, he padded towards the trio of males. "Did I miss anything?" he asked indifferently. Plastered on his face was his signature expression, one mostly blank, though suggesting boredom with the entire situation. Though he was starting to get hungry. He looked from Vinny to Ikor to Talon. It seemed that none of them had caught anything. Aw, darn. Guess I'll have to go hunt with them now.

((Sorry for the short post, slight writer's block. And as for Cheche, I'll let her wake up before posting with her.))

I watched and tried not to smirk as Vinny and Talon collided into one another. They were both caked with dusty mud. The other males began to cluster around them. I knew what they were talking about, it was the same everyday. 'Did you get anything?' 'Wheres the gazelle?' 'Sorry, can't hunt today.' Rolling onto my back I felt my fur flatten against the sticky mud. The sky was the solitary gray of a wet boulder, and I blinked as flecks of rain drizzled onto my exposed face. Vikivu climbed down from the tree where he had been resting and Quila dashed up. ❝Don't follow!❞ she called down to me. I flicked my tail. She always wanted the tree to herself, and that wasn't very surprising either. Allowing myself a long, quiet sigh I rolled back onto my belly. I could tell the fur on my flanks and spine were sponged with dirt. Movement from above signaled Quila was edging around towards me. I tensed, ready to leap out of the way if she decided to leap on me. More movement, some scraping. A white-tipped tail ringed with black dangled in front of my face. I refused to acknowledge it. Hearing a sound of frustration from above, I smiled. The tail flicked me on the forehead and then shot up and out of the way. Well then!

I tried to find some shelter from the misting rain, but the only refuge available was a stooped, leafy tree inhabited by Vukivu. Of course when he climbed down I immediately took his place. After telling Donne not to follow I glanced around. Grass. Grass. Gazelles. Males. Grass. Hill. Mud. Donne. Grass. Grass. Grass. River. Gators. Grass. Oh well. It wasn't like a pack of lions come trooping up the moorland everyday. More like every week or so. I dangled my tail in front of my brother in an effort to get him moving. Nothing. Grunting, I slapped him on what I hoped was his muzzle and raised my tail before he could claw it. Grass. Grass.

His heart pounded as his paws struck the ground, boosting himself forward. The gazelle became into his reach, his claws reaching and getting to it's tail. A blow knocked him over, he lay as Vinny glared down at him. "Wha--" he stood up, taking note of all the mud. "What was that for?" he growled, glancing to the side where the herd was. He had respect for the leader(sometimes) but was stunned when he knocked him over. Someone sure is grumpy today He laughed in his head and a smile appeared on his face, stretching across his muzzle. Hew usually made comments like that, but some he knew he should keep to himself. It's who he is, a sly trickster that enjoys others' misfortune and/or facial expressions.
