Ember is kind, independent, and strong. She doesn't mind what others think about her, and likes to be different. She isn't the smartest, and dislikes math, but enjoys reading from time to time. Her hobbies include baking, knitting, and riding saddleseat. She owns a set of tack that she keeps in decent condition, and has ribbons from the few shows she and Blue have ridden together. Her hair is auburn and her eyes are brilliant hazel. She tends to keep to herself, but hopes to make some friends at this new barn.

December was raised in the city, a bleak nothingness if you were interested in horses - which Ember was. She begged her parents to move out to the country, but they had to stay in the city to maintain a job. Finally, her mom took her out for horseback riding lessons one summer. Ember was ecstatic about it, and they went almost every summer after. Soon, Ember had to stop her equestrian life to focus on schoolwork. After a few years of college, she finally pursued her dreams of raising horses.

Blue is a proud young fellow, but friendly too. He likes to think that he is the fastest, most graceful horse in the stables, but inside he knows better. He dislikes being beaten in races, eating dandelions, and mean creatures. Blue likes December, stargazing, and turnips. His hobbies include eating, eating, and eating.

Blue was born and bred in Texas, but spent much of his early life in Arkansas, where he was trained until he was sold. Blue found himself owned by Ember, who took him to Horse Stud Ranch to train and compete. At first, Blue didn't like December at all and resented the bond she was trying desperately to form with him. But one night, a few vicious young coyotes got into the pasture Blue was sleeping in. They left him bleeding and furious, but Ember shot one and sent the rest off with their tails between their legs. Blue wasn't quite so unfriendly towards her since that, and eventually they became good friends.
