Bear walked down the alleyways, his fluffy ginger counterpart close by his side. He was her protector, her guardian, and she was sure to never stray too far. Scary thing laid in the world away from her brother. The two large dogs tried to ignore the dull hunger clawing at their bellies, always nagging in the back of their minds. It had been several days since their human friend had passed away, and the two were used to a regular meal, no matter how small.
The dark mastiff's head snapped up as he heard a scuffle. A dog being chased off for food.
Food.
Bear broke into a slow lope, heading towards the sound and now, the smell. It was the kind of food that came from the twin-curves place, with the somewhat unsettling painted human mascot. The scent was overpowering. Mourn was obviously smelling the deliciousness as well, because her normally soft eyes took on a primal, hungry glint.
His paws stopped when the smell began to fade. Bear was following his nose now, and he backtracked to where it was strongest again. He searched with his eyes for the source, but it was hidden.
He growled under his breath, his hunger breeding impatience.
"Where is it?" he said in his deep, rough voice. He blinked his dark eyes to Mourn, questioning. His smaller sister shrugged her shoulders.
