I easily clear the river and let out a loud triumphant snort. I look back at my mares and nod them to me and turned back. Then I saw a mare I had seen before one that had accepted my offer but only to stay for a little while. Kindly I walk up next to her and let out a little snort, 'Hello again."

Illegal glanced at the elegant dun Desire, the sky seemed to reflect in her dark eyes endless eyes, his coat gently brushed against hers as he walked alongside her gently grooming her mane, "I was wondering if you'd like a foal next spring, I understand how you may want to wait another few springs, so I decided to leave the choice up to you" he started as he slowly groomed her mane his muscles rippling under his pale coat as he walked, he was still sore from gathering his herd but it had been worth it to him.

Winter smiled sadly her white forlock hiding parts of her eyes, "life happened" she murmered, "the lead mare of the herd never liked me she had given birth to her foal in early winter and like many early birthed foals it didn't make it" she sighed, "when my colt was born in early spring she decided to take him as her own, the lead stallion caught us fighting when he came back with a new mare, and since I was still young he decided I wasn't worth the trouble he snaked me out of the herd and the lead mare kept my colt"

Desire was instantly nervous. Her dun coat twitched. She thought about a silver colt. She was the mare in his herd most likely to get a foal of the stallions colour. Her eyes shut as she thought about it. She knew almost nothing about looking after family. She couldnt even groom Flame. Flame!Her eyes opened"I would love that, but you must promise to always help me as i will need help"she paused"And that Flame must always be with me, if she gets snaked, i will follow and if you kick her out, im going as well"her eyes had fire in them as she looked at him. She was not going to be like the other mares and get all mushy. No, she had to know he was going to be with her through this.

Winter paused for a moment her tail swishing thoughtfully, she smiled sadly at the mention of forgetting the past. "It may not be the best memories to keep, but i'd never wish them away either I wouldn't ever want to forget my colt...." She sighed softly and smiled lightly, "but I would like to start over again, but you must promise me you won't just ignore me or the foal, I've learned from my past mistakes and I want it's sire to have a part of it's life" she explained she knew it was alot to ask of a stallion but she wanted to make sure her future foal would have a good life.

Illegal smiled and nodded, "I promise, and I'll try to help you as much as I can with the foal," he bobbed his head his forlock falling in his eyes, he smiled at the mention of the other mare and nodded his head calmly, "of course, I hoped that you would make a friend in one of the mares like that," he gently groomed her wither calmly, "but you can wait if you like, I am not going to rush my mares into having a foals"

Flint shrugged ''I guess so'' she shook her bangs away from her eyes so she could see clearly. She gazed around the landscape, anxiously.

I smile, 'If I ask you to join me again with you once again accept, except stay with me for as long as I can protect you?" I said to her sweetly. She was a kind mare and would make a lovely addition to my herd.

She shook her head and smiled at the mare's exuberance.'Not yet no,thought maybe I could get some help with that once the time came.I'll help you too,if you'd like."she said quickly afterwards,knowing with almost unwavering positivity that Illegal would breed the other mares soon enough.

By now, the sun was just a red sliver on the horizon, and she looked up to witness it's finally moments. Another day, another adventure. And the heat hadn't even really started yet

Equinox ran after the others, watching them in respect. She could see Shade's patience fadeing as their scents grew stronger.
