Dahlia continued dreaming about the nightmarish memories of her past. She awoke in a cold-sweat. It was already October and winter would be quickly approaching. Dahlia shook herself and took a deep breath. The doe walked alone in the dim light of the evening. She grazed by her favorite spot in the river, gazing in awe at the beautiful white round pebbles, smoothed by decades of being nestled in the riverbed. She did not notice a pair glowing yellow eyes in the underbrush not fifty feet away from where she stood...

Aster took two steps back, trembling. She eyed the apple. The irony of the situation struck her. The apple was so close yet so far, for if she wanted to taste its crisp sweetness she would first have to approach the buck who had offered it to her. The doe's black wide eyes, framed with dark long lashes, slowly looked the buck over. He looked to be a strong male of power and importance. The doe was frozen in awe. After a ridiculous time of just standing there and staring at him, she lowered her delicate head and outstretched her slender long neck, taking as few steps as possible to take the apple without getting to close to the buck. Her cheeks still blushed hot because of her initial embarrassment of falling in the first place. With the apple between her teeth, she quickly walked away to a safer distance, never taking her eyes off the generous stranger. "Th-thank you" was all she managed to stutter out.
